Because we use primitive values (numbers) for setting the near and far plane we don't have an actual reference to the near/far plane values of the camera. So when these values change we hadn't any chance to easily update these values in the materials. So I suggest to update them every rendered frame like it is done with scale, kernelRadius, minResolution etc In my use case for example the near and far plane of my camera is constanctly changing depending on the current distance and size of the shown object. So if I zoom closer to my model the far plane decreases in value and so does the near one.
