when 1G-optic module was plugged in, internal loopback test failed because the driver used to check the optic module (with no need), and for 1G optic module, the link speed was forced down to 1G, while the XMAC (10G MAC) was enabled. Previously, in case of KR link down, the driver would reset the PHY and restart auto negotiation only when old Warpcore microcode was used (below D108). This patch comes to generalize this by keep trying to restart KR link, regardless of Warpcore microcode, since it was found that it solves another link issue which source is a link-partner. As part of this change, the signal detect is no longer a condition to apply the work-around to cover this new case. Like before, as long as the link is down, AN will be restarted every 2 seconds. commit 104a43ed cnic: Use CHIP_NUM macros from bnx2x.h changed the code to use the bnx2x macro NO_FCOE() to determine if FCoE is supported or not. There is another place in cnic that is still using the old method to determine if FCoE is supported or not. The 2 methods may not yield the same result after the network interface is brought down and up. This will cause the crash as cnic_bnx2x_service_kcq() will access the uninitialized cp->kcq2. The fix is to consistently use the same macro CNIC_SUPPORTS_FCOE() which uses the bnx2x NO_FCOE() macro. As a follow-up, we can clean up the code to remove the old method as it is no longer needed. This is important patch for new devices that support unaligned addressing. That devices suffer from the backward-compatibility bug in DMA engine. In theory we should be able to use old mechanism, but in practice DMA address seems to be randomly copied into status register when hardware reaches end of a ring. This breaks reading slot number from status register and we can't use DMA anymore. Signed-off-by: NRafał Miłecki <zajec5@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: NDavid S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

During initialization bnx2x allocates significant amounts of memory (for rx data, rx SGEs, TPA pool) using atomic allocations. I received a report where bnx2x failed to allocate SGEs and it had to fall back to TPA-less operation. Let's use GFP_KERNEL allocations during initialization, which runs in process context. Add gfp_t parameters to functions that are used both in initialization and in the receive path. Use an unlikely branch in bnx2x_frag_alloc() to avoid atomic allocation by netdev_alloc_frag(). The branch is taken several thousands of times during initialization, but then never more. Note that fp->rx_frag_size is never greater than PAGE_SIZE, so __get_free_page() can be used here. If driver will fail to allocate all queues, it will shrink the number of queues and move the storage queue to its correct place (i.e., the last queue among the newly supported number). When changing the pointers of the new location of the FCoE queue, we need to pay special attention to the aggregations pointer - that memory is allocated during probe and released upon driver removal. Current implementation has 2 pointers pointing to the same chunk of allocated memory, meaning upon removal there will be two kfree() of the same chunk while the other won't be released. There are possible HW configurations in which PFs will have SR-IOV capability but will have Max VFs set to 0 - this happens when there are Multi-Function devices where the VFs are allocated to only some of the PFs. DMAE is configured to support VFs only if the configuring PF has supported VFs. In case the first PF to be loaded will be one without supported VFs, it will not configure DMAE to the VF-supporting mode. When VFs of other PFs will be loaded later on, they will not be able to communicate with their PF. This changes the requirement for configuring DMAE for VF-supporting mode; If the device has SR-IOV capabilities there must be some PF that has max supported VFs > 0, thus it will configure the DMAE for supporting VFs. Since SR-IOV can be activated dynamically and iproute2 can be called asynchronously, the various callbacks need a robust sanity check before attempting to access the SR-IOV database and members since there are numerous states in which it can find the driver (e.g., PF is down, sriov was not enabled yet, VF is down, etc.). In many of the states the callback result will be null pointer dereference.
