It has been decreed that platform numbers are evil, so as a step in that direction, replace platform_is_lpar() with a FW_FEATURE_LPAR bit. Currently FW_FEATURE_LPAR really means i/pSeries LPAR, in the future we might have to clean that up if we need to be more specific about what LPAR actually means. But that's another patch ... If the logical and physical cpu ids of a secondary thread don't match, we will fail to spin the thread up on pSeries machines due to a bug in pseries/smp.c We call the RTAS "start-cpu" method with the physical cpu id, the address of pSeries_secondary_smp_init and the value to pass that function in r3. Currently we pass "lcpu", the logical cpu id, but pSeries_secondary_smp_init expects the physical cpu id in r3. We should be passing pcpu instead. This patch merges platform codes. systemcfg->platform is no longer used, systemcfg use in general is deprecated as much as possible (and renamed _systemcfg before it gets completely moved elsewhere in a future patch), _machine is now used on ppc64 along as ppc32. Platform codes aren't gone yet but we are getting a step closer. A bunch of asm code in head[_64].S is also turned into C code. This patch moves the XICS interrupt controller code into the platforms/pseries directory, since it only appears on pSeries machines. If it ever appears on some other machine we can move it to sysdev, although xics.c itself will need a bunch of changes in that case to remove pSeries specific assumptions. The firmware_features field of struct cpu_spec should really be a separate variable as the firmware features do not depend on the chip and the bitmask is constructed independently. By removing it, we save 112 bytes from the cpu_specs array and we access the bitmask directly instead of via the cur_cpu_spec pointer. (The i386 CPU hotplug patch provides infrastructure for some work which Pavel is doing as well as for ACPI S3 (suspend-to-RAM) work which Li Shaohua <shaohua.li@intel.com> is doing) The following provides i386 architecture support for safely unregistering and registering processors during runtime, updated for the current -mm tree. In order to avoid dumping cpu hotplug code into kernel/irq/* i dropped the cpu_online check in do_IRQ() by modifying fixup_irqs(). The difference being that on cpu offline, fixup_irqs() is called before we clear the cpu from cpu_online_map and a long delay in order to ensure that we never have any queued external interrupts on the APICs. There are additional changes to s390 and ppc64 to account for this change. 1) Add CONFIG_HOTPLUG_CPU 2) disable local APIC timer on dead cpus. 3) Disable preempt around irq balancing to prevent CPUs going down. 4) Print irq stats for all possible cpus. 5) Debugging check for interrupts on offline cpus. 6) Hacky fixup_irqs() to redirect irqs when cpus go off/online. 7) play_dead() for offline cpus to spin inside. 8) Handle offline cpus set in flush_tlb_others(). 9) Grab lock earlier in smp_call_function() to prevent CPUs going down. 10) Implement __cpu_disable() and __cpu_die(). 11) Enable local interrupts in cpu_enable() after fixup_irqs() 12) Don't fiddle with NMI on dead cpu, but leave intact on other cpus. 13) Program IRQ affinity whilst cpu is still in cpu_online_map on offline. Add support for the integrated interrupt controller on BPA CPUs. There is one of those for each SMT thread. The mapping of interrupt numbers to HW interrupt sources is described in arch/ppc64/kernel/bpa_iic.h. This version hardcodes the 'Spider' chip as the secondary interrupt controller. That is not really generic for the architecture, but at the moment it is the only secondary PIC that exists. A little more work will be needed on this as soon as we have boards with multiple external interrupt controllers. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
