The "index" field of struct cpufreq_frequency_table was never an index and isn't used at all by the cpufreq core. It only is useful for cpufreq drivers for their internal purposes. Many people nowadays blindly set it in ascending order with the assumption that the core will use it, which is a mistake. Rename it to "driver_data" as that's what its purpose is. All of its users are updated accordingly. [rjw: Changelog] Signed-off-by: NViresh Kumar <viresh.kumar@linaro.org> Acked-by: NSimon Horman <horms+renesas@verge.net.au> Signed-off-by: NRafael J. policy->cpus contains all online cpus that have single shared clock line. And their frequencies are always updated together. Many SMP system's cpufreq drivers take care of this in individual drivers but the best place for this code is in cpufreq core. This patch modifies cpufreq_notify_transition() to notify frequency change for all cpus in policy->cpus and hence updates all users of this API. This marks all the x86 cpuinfo tables to the CPU specific device drivers, to allow auto loading by udev. This should simplify the distribution startup scripts for this greatly. I didn't add MODULE_DEVICE_IDs to the centrino and p4-clockmod drivers, because those probably shouldn't be auto loaded and the acpi driver be used instead (not fully sure on that, would appreciate feedback) The old nforce drivers autoload based on the PCI ID. ACPI cpufreq is autoloaded in another patch. v3: Autoload gx based on PCI IDs only. With dynamic debug having gained the capability to report debug messages also during the boot process, it offers a far superior interface for debug messages than the custom cpufreq infrastructure. As a first step, remove the old cpufreq_debug_printk() function and replace it with a call to the generic pr_debug() function. How can dynamic debug be used on cpufreq? You need a kernel which has CONFIG_DYNAMIC_DEBUG enabled. To enabled debugging during runtime, mount debugfs and $ echo -n 'module cpufreq +p' > /sys/kernel/debug/dynamic_debug/control for debugging the complete "cpufreq" module. To achieve the same goal during boot, append ddebug_query="module cpufreq +p" as a boot parameter to the kernel of your choice. cpu_data is currently an array defined using NR_CPUS. This means that we overallocate since we will rarely really use maximum configured cpus. When NR_CPU count is raised to 4096 the size of cpu_data becomes 3,145,728 bytes. These changes were adopted from the sparc64 (and ia64) code. An additional field was added to cpuinfo_x86 to be a non-ambiguous cpu index. This corresponds to the index into a cpumask_t as well as the per_cpu index. It's used in various places like show_cpuinfo(). cpu_data is defined to be the boot_cpu_data structure for the NON-SMP case. VIA C3 Ezra-T has RevisionID equal to 1, but it needs RevisionKey to be 0 or CPU will ignore new frequency and will continue to work at old frequency. New "revid_errata" option will force RevisionKey to be set to 0, whatever RevisionID is. Additionaly "Longhaul" will not silently ignore unsuccessful transition. It will try to check if "revid_errata" or "disable_acpi_c3" options need to be enabled for this processor/system. Same for Longhaul ver. 2 support. It will be disabled if none of above options will work. Best case scenario (with patch apllied and v2 enabled): longhaul: VIA C3 'Ezra' [C5C] CPU detected. Worst case scenario: longhaul: VIA C3 'Ezra-T' [C5M] CPU detected. Powersaver supported. longhaul: Using northbridge support. longhaul: Using ACPI support. longhaul: VRM 8.5 longhaul: Claims to support voltage scaling but min & max are both 1.250. Longhaul with voltage scaling enabled works great on Ezra CPU (Longhaul ver. 2). As long as "conservative" governor is used. Both "ondemand" and "userspace" can change voltage from min to max at once. Motherboard unfortunatly turns off when vid difference is big. Longhaul was printing warning message, but it is not enough. Now driver will have "conservative" governor built in and will split bigger changes to smaller ones. Start using v2 version of Longhaul when available. It provides voltage scaling and can use ACPI C3 state. That's curious. CPU will not change frequency on ACPI C3 when v1 is in use, but it will when v2 is used. Driver will return max frequency all the time if this isn't true for all processors. There is strange thing with mobile voltage. Looks like only Nehemiah (C3-M) supports it. Earlier processors have different mobile VRM (in docs), but I can't find any which is using it. Looks like all are using VRM 8.5. So fail for non Nehemiah with mobile VRM. Signed-off-by: NRafal Bilski <rafalbilski@interia.pl> Signed-off-by: NDave Jones <davej@redhat.com>

This change should make Longhaul more compatible with both ver. 2 and Powersaver processors. Voltage transitions will be done before or after frequency transition. That depends on direction of change. I don't know how to force conservative governor when voltage scaling is enabled, so there is only a warning for user. Minimal voltage is calculated in different way now because in this way more power is saved at lower multipliers.
