Fix regression introduced in <42fd5a58>. With q35 machine type which requires the explicitly specified FDC we'd format twoisa-fdc controllers to the command line as the code was moved to a place where it's called per-disk. Move the call back after formatting all disks and reiterate the disks to find the floppy controllers. This also moves the '-global' directive which sets up the default ISA-FDC to the end after all the disks but since we are modifying the properties it is safe to do so. Per-domain directories were introduced in order to be able to completely separate security labels for each domain (commit f1f68ca3). However when the domain name is long (let's say a ridiculous 110 characters), we cannot connect to the monitor socket because on length of UNIX socket address is limited. In order to get around this, let's shorten it in similar fashion and in order to avoid conflicts, throw in an ID there as well. Also save that into the status XML and load the old status XMLs properly (to clean up after older domains). That way we can change it in the future. The shortening can be seen in qemuxml2argv tests, for example in the hugepages-pages2 case. Signed-off-by: NMartin Kletzander <mkletzan@redhat.com>

Just recently, qemu forbade specifying format for sourceless disks (qemu commit 39c4ae941ed992a3bb5). It kind of makes sense. If there's no file to open, why specify its format. Anyway, I have a domain like this: <disk type='file' device='cdrom'> <driver name='qemu' type='raw'/> <target dev='hda' bus='ide'/> <readonly/> <address type='drive' controller='0' bus='0' target='0' unit='0'/> </disk> and obviously I am unable to start it. Therefore, a fix on our side is needed too. Signed-off-by: NMichal Privoznik <mprivozn@redhat.com>

Back in commit bd6c46fa Author: Juerg Haefliger <juerg.haefliger@hp.com> Date: Mon Jan 31 06:42:57 2011 -0500 tests: handle backspace-newline pairs in test input files all the test argv files were line wrapped so that the args were less than 80 characters. The way the line wrapping was done turns out to be quite undesirable, because it often leaves multiple parameters on the same line. If we later need to add or remove individual parameters, then it leaves us having to redo line wrapping. This commit changes the line wrapping so that every single "-param value" is one its own new line. If the "value" is still too long, then we break on ',' or ':' or ' ' as needed. This means that when we come to add / remove parameters from the test files line, the patch diffs will only ever show a single line added/removed which will greatly simplify review work. On my machine, a guest fails to boot if it has a sound card, but not graphical device/display is configured, because pulseaudio fails to initialize since it can't access $HOME. A workaround is removing the audio device, however on ARM boards there isn't any option to do that, so -nographic always fails. Set QEMU_AUDIO_DRV=none if no <graphics> are configured. Unfortunately this has massive test suite fallout. Add a qemu.conf parameter nographics_allow_host_audio, that if enabled will pass through QEMU_AUDIO_DRV from sysconfig (similar to vnc_allow_host_audio)

Long lines are harder to read and harder to diff; in fact, if lines get too long (> 1000 bytes), it starts causing issues where git send-email refuses to send patches for the file. I've cleaned up the tests directory in the past (see commits bd6c46fa, 3b750d13), but new long lines have been introduced in the meantime. Why 90 instead of 80? Because there were too many tests on the fringe edge, and I didn't want to edit that many files. Add a syntax check to prevent future long lines. * cfg.mk (sc_prohibit_long_lines): New rule. * tests/qemuxml2argvdata/qemuxml2argv-*.args: Split lines of any file with content longer than 90 columns. * tests/storagevolxml2argvdata/*.argv: Likewise. In the past, generic SCSI commands issued from a guest to a virtio disk were always passed through to the underlying disk by qemu, and the kernel would also pass them on. As a result of CVE-2011-4127 (see: http://seclists.org/oss-sec/2011/q4/536), qemu now honors its scsi=on|off device option for virtio-blk-pci (which enables/disables passthrough of generic SCSI commands), and the kernel will only allow the commands for physical devices (not for partitions or logical volumes). The default behavior of qemu is still to allow sending generic SCSI commands to physical disks that are presented to a guest as virtio-blk-pci devices, but libvirt prefers to disable those commands in the standard virtio block devices, enabling it only when specifically requested (hopefully indicating that the requester understands what they're asking for). For this purpose, a new libvirt disk device type (device='lun') has been created. device='lun' is identical to the default device='disk', except that: 1) It is only allowed if bus='virtio', type='block', and the qemu version is "new enough" to support it ("new enough" == qemu 0.11 or better), otherwise the domain will fail to start and a CONFIG_UNSUPPORTED error will be logged). 2) The option "scsi=on" will be added to the -device arg to allow SG_IO commands (if device !='lun', "scsi=off" will be added to the -device arg so that SG_IO commands are specifically forbidden). Guests which continue to use disk device='disk' (the default) will no longer be able to use SG_IO commands on the disk; those that have their disk device changed to device='lun' will still be able to use SG_IO commands. *docs/formatdomain.html.in - document the new device attribute value. *docs/schemas/domaincommon.rng - allow it in the RNG *tests/* - update the args of several existing tests to add scsi=off, and add one new test that will test scsi=on. *src/conf/domain_conf.c - update domain XML parser and formatter *src/qemu/qemu_(command|driver|hotplug).c - treat VIR_DOMAIN_DISK_DEVICE_LUN *almost* identically to VIR_DOMAIN_DISK_DEVICE_DISK, except as indicated above. Note that no support for this new device value was added to any hypervisor drivers other than qemu, because it's unclear what it might mean (if anything) to those drivers.

Prefer bootindex=N option for -device over the old way -boot ORDER possibly accompanied with boot=on option for -drive. This gives us full control over which device will actually be used for booting guest OS. Moreover, if qemu doesn't support boot=on, this is the only way to boot of certain disks in some configurations (such as virtio disks when used together IDE disks) without transforming domain XML to use per device boot elements.
