There are two test cases: 1. Remove the 4 modules:hns_enet_drv/hns_dsaf/hnae/hns_mdio, and install them again, must use "ifconfig down/ifconfig up" command pair to bring port to work. This patch calls phy_stop function when init phy to fix this bug. 2. Remove the 2 modules:hns_enet_drv/hns_dsaf, and install them again, all ports can not use anymore, because of the phy devices register failed(phy devices already exists). Phy devices are registered when hns_dsaf installed, this patch removes them when hns_dsaf removed. The two cases are sometimes related, fixing the second case also requires fixing the first case, so fix them together. As diagnosed by Song Liu, ndo_poll_controller() can be very dangerous on loaded hosts, since the cpu calling ndo_poll_controller() might steal all NAPI contexts (for all RX/TX queues of the NIC). This capture can last for unlimited amount of time, since one cpu is generally not able to drain all the queues under load. hns uses NAPI for TX completions, so we better let core networking stack call the napi->poll() to avoid the capture. If SMMU is on, there is more likely that skb_shinfo(skb)->frags[i] can not send by a single BD. when this happen, the hns_nic_net_xmit_hw function map the whole data in a frags using skb_frag_dma_map, but unmap each BD' data individually when tx is done, which causes problem when SMMU is on. This patch fixes this problem by ummapping the whole data in a frags when tx is done. If there are packets in hardware when changing the speed or duplex, it may cause hardware hang up. This patch adds the code for waiting chip to clean the all pkts(TX & RX) in chip when the driver uses the function named "adjust link". This patch cleans the pkts as follows: 1) close rx of chip, close tx of protocol stack. 2) wait rcb, ppe, mac to clean. 3) adjust link 4) open rx of chip, open tx of protocol stack. skb->truesize is not meant to be tracking amount of used bytes in a skb, but amount of reserved/consumed bytes in memory. For instance, if we use a single byte in last page fragment, we have to account the full size of the fragment. So skb_add_rx_frag needs to calculate the length of the entire buffer into turesize. Convert all users of struct acpi_reference_args to more generic fwnode_reference_args. This will 1) avoid an ACPI specific references to device nodes with integer arguments as well as 2) allow making references to nodes other than device nodes in ACPI. As a by-product, convert the fwnode interger arguments to u64. The arguments were 64-bit integers on ACPI but the fwnode arguments were just 32-bit. For most of these calls we can just pass NULL through to the fallback function as the sb_dev. The only cases where we cannot are the cases where we might be dealing with either an upper device or a driver that would have configured things to support an sb_dev itself. The only driver that has any significant change in this patch set should be ixgbe as we can drop the redundant functionality that existed in both the ndo_select_queue function and the fallback function that was passed through to us. This patch makes it so that instead of passing a void pointer as the accel_priv we instead pass a net_device pointer as sb_dev. Making this change allows us to pass the subordinate device through to the fallback function eventually so that we can keep the actual code in the ndo_select_queue call as focused on possible on the exception cases. The kzalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, kcalloc(). This patch replaces cases of: kzalloc(a * b, gfp) with: kcalloc(a * b, gfp) as well as handling cases of: kzalloc(a * b * c, gfp) with: kzalloc(array3_size(a, b, c), gfp) as it's slightly less ugly than: kzalloc_array(array_size(a, b), c, gfp) This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like: kzalloc(4 * 1024, gfp) though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion. Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were dropped, since they're redundant. The Coccinelle script used for this was: // Fix redundant parens around sizeof(). @@ type TYPE; expression THING, E; @@ ( kzalloc( - (sizeof(TYPE)) * E + sizeof(TYPE) * E , ...) | kzalloc( - (sizeof(THING)) * E + sizeof(THING) * E , ...) ) // Drop single-byte sizes and redundant parens. @@ expression COUNT; Because buf_size of ring set to 2048, the process of rx_poll_one can reuse the page, therefore the performance of XGE can improve. But the chip only supports three bds in one package, so the max mtu is 6K when it sets to 2048. For better performane in litter mtu, we need change buf_size according to mtu. When user change mtu, hns is only change the desc in memory. There are some desc has been fetched by the chip, these desc can not be changed by the code. So it needs set the port loopback and send some packages to let the chip consumes the wrong desc and fetch new desc. Because the Pv660 do not support rss indirection, we need add version check in mtu change process. This patch fixes the device being used to DMA map skb->data. Erroneous device assignment causes the crash when SMMU is enabled. This happens during TX since buffer gets DMA mapped with device correspondign to net_device and gets unmapped using the device related to DSAF. The network stack no longer uses the last_rx member of struct net_device since the bonding driver switched to use its own private last_rx in commit 9f242738 ("bonding: use last_arp_rx in slave_last_rx()"). However, some drivers still (ab)use the field for their own purposes and some driver just update it without actually using it. Previously, there was an accompanying comment for the last_rx member added in commit 4dc89133 ("net: add a comment on netdev->last_rx") which asked drivers not to update is, unless really needed. However, this commend was removed in commit f8ff080d ("bonding: remove useless updating of slave->dev->last_rx"), so some drivers added later on still did update last_rx. Remove all usage of last_rx and switch three drivers (sky2, atp and smc91c92_cs) which actually read and write it to use their own private copy in netdev_priv. Compile-tested with allyesconfig and allmodconfig on x86 and arm. The network device operation for reading statistics is only called in one place, and it ignores the return value. Having a structure return value is potentially confusing because some future driver could incorrectly assume that the return value was used. This patch introduces the RX checksum function to check the status of the hardware calculated checksum and its error and appropriately convey status to the upper stack in skb->ip_summed field. In hardware, we only support checksum for the following protocols: 1) IPv4, 2) TCP(over IPv4 or IPv6), 3) UDP(over IPv4 or IPv6), 4) SCTP(over IPv4 or IPv6) but we support many L3(IPv4, IPv6, MPLS, PPPoE etc) and L4(TCP, UDP, GRE, SCTP, IGMP, ICMP etc.) protocols. Hardware limitation: Our present hardware RX Descriptor lacks L3/L4 checksum "Status & Error" bit (which usually can be used to indicate whether checksum was calculated by the hardware and if there was any error encountered during checksum calculation). Software workaround: We do get info within the RX descriptor about the kind of L3/L4 protocol coming in the packet and the error status. These errors might not just be checksum errors but could be related to version, length of IPv4, UDP, TCP etc. Because there is no-way of knowing if it is a L3/L4 error due to bad checksum or any other L3/L4 error, we will not (cannot) convey hardware checksum status(CHECKSUM_UNNECESSARY) for such cases to upper stack and will not maintain the RX L3/L4 checksum counters as well.
