Adds logic to parse lis3 properties from a device tree node and store them in a freshly allocated lis3lv02d_platform_data. Note that the actual match tables are left out here. This part should happen in the drivers that bind to the individual busses (SPI/I2C/PCI). Also adds some DT bindinds documentation. The driver doesn't check the result and directly uses it as some sort of divisor in some places: msleep(lis3->pwron_delay / lis3lv02d_get_odr()); Under this circumstances, this could very well cause the "divide by zero" exception from above. For now, I fixed it the easiest and most obvious way: Check if the result is sane and if it isn't use a sane default instead. I went for "100" in the latter case, simply because /sys/devices/platform/lis3lv02d/rate returns it on a successful boot. Commit 2a7fade7 ("hwmon: lis3: Power on corrections") caused a regression on HP laptops with 8bit chip. Writing CTRL2_BOOT_8B bit seems clearing the BIOS setup, and no proper interrupt for DriveGuard will be triggered any more. Since the init code there is basically only for embedded devices, put a pdata check so that the problematic initialization will be skipped for hp_accel stuff. Add optional blockread function to interface driver. If available the chip driver uses it for data register access. For 12 bit device it reads 6 bytes to get 3*16bit data. For 8 bit device it reads out 5 bytes since every second byte is dummy. This optimizes bus usage and reduces number of operations and interrupts needed for one data update. Default fuziness is set smaller for 8 device. In 12 bit device LSB is quite close to 1 mg (mg = 1 / 1000 of earth gravity). In 8bit device LSB is about 18 mg. Set fuziness to 1 for 8 bit device. Added default output data rate setting to platform data. If default rate is 0, reset default value is used. Added control for duration via platform data. Added possibility to configure interrupts to trig on both rising and falling edge. The lis3 WU unit can be configured quite many ways and with some configurations it is quite handy to get coordinate refresh when some event trigs and when it reason goes away. Sometimes lis3 chip seems to fail to setup factory tuning at boot up. This probably happens if there is some odd power ramp down ramp up sequence for example in device restart. Set boot bit in control2 register to trig boot sequence manually and wait until it is finished. Irqcfg moved to chip data instead of platform data. This simplifies access in interrupt handler little bit. Input device open and close functions set status for interrupt threaded handler once. Unnecessary check for interrupt source removed since it is enough that active interrupt line indicates that there was an interrupt. Add pm_runtime support to lis3 core driver. Add pm_runtime support to lis3 i2c driver. spi and hp_accel drivers are not yet supported. Old always on functionality remains for those. For sysfs there is 5 second delay before turning off the chip to avoid long ramp up delay. The axis-mapping of lis3dev device on many (rather most) HP machines doesn't follow the standard. When each new model appears, users need to adjust again. Testing this requires the rebuild of kernel, thus it's not trivial for end-users. This patch adds a module parameter "axes" to allow a custom axis-mapping without patching and recompiling the kernel driver. User can pass the parameter such as axes=3,2,1. Also it can be changed via sysfs. Content for the 8bit device threaded interrupt handlers. Depending on the interrupt line and chip configuration, either click or wakeup / freefall handler is called. In case of click, BTN_ event is sent via input device. In case of wakeup or freefall, input device ABS_ events are updated immediatelly. It is still possible to configure interrupt line 1 for fast freefall detection and use the second line either for click or threshold based interrupts. Or both lines can be used for click / threshold interrupts. Polled input device can be set to stopped state and still get coordinate updates via input device using interrupt based method. Polled mode and interrupt mode can also be used parallel. BTN_ events are remapped based on existing axis remapping information. 8 bit device has two wakeup / free fall units. It was not possible to configure the second unit. This patch introduces configuration entry to the platform data and also corresponding changes to the 8 bit setup function. High pass filters were enabled by default. Patch introduces configuration option for high pass filter cut off frequency and also possibility to disable or enable the filter via platform data. Since the control is a new one and default state was filter enabled, new option is used to disable the filter. This way old platform data is still compatible with the change. Report output values as 1/1000 of earth gravity. Output values from lis3 can be read from sysfs position entry and from input device. Input device can be accessed as event device and as joystick device. Joystick device can be in two modes. Meaning of the output values varies from case to case depending on the chip type and configuration (scale). Only joystick interface in JS_CORR_BROKEN mode returned somehow similar output values in different configurations. Joystick device is in that state by default in case of lis3. Position sysfs entry, input event device and raw joystick device have been little bit broken since meaning of the output values has been varied between 12 and 8 bit devices. Applications which relayed on those methods failed if the chip is different than the expected one. This patch converts output values to mean similar thing in different configurations. Both 8 and 12 bit devices reports now same acceleration values. If somebody implements full scale support to the driver, output values will still mean the same. Scaling factor and input device range must be updated in that case. Joystick interface in JS_CORR_BROKEN mode is not touched by this patch. All other interfaces have different scale after this change. For 12 bit device scaling factor is 0.977 which keeps scaled and unscaled values are quite close to each others. For 8 bit device, scaled values are 18 times bigger than unscaled values. Implement selftest feature as specified by chip manufacturer. Control: read selftest sysfs entry Response: "OK x y z" or "FAIL x y z" where x, y, and z are difference between selftest mode and normal mode. Test is passed when values are within acceptance limit values. Acceptance limits are provided via platform data. See chip spesifications for acceptance limits. If limits are not properly set, OK / FAIL decision is meaningless. However, userspace application can still make decision based on the numeric x, y, z values. Selftest is meant for HW diagnostic purposes. It is not meant to be called during normal use of the chip. It may cause false interrupt events. Selftest mode delays polling of the normal results but it doesn't cause wrong values. Chip must be in static state during selftest. Any acceration during the test causes most probably failure. Lis3 accelerometer sensors have quite long power on delay (up to 125 ms). This patch adds necessary delay to power on sequence for currently supported lis3 chips. Originally the driver was only targeted to 12bits sensors. When support for 8bits sensors was added, some slight difference in the registers were overlooked. This should fix it, both for initialization, and for displaying the rate. The LIS302DL accelerometer chip has a 'click' feature which can be used to detect sudden motion on any of the three axis. Configuration data is passed via spi platform_data and no action is taken if that's not specified, so it won't harm any existing platform. To make the configuration effective, the IRQ lines need to be set up appropriately. This patch also adds a way to do that from board support code. The DD_* definitions were factored out to an own enum because they are specific to LIS3LV02D devices.
