To add another troubleshooting step that could be useful. The problem I had in order to make the model visible was that it was hidden in the dark. Once I added and positioned a light source, the model appeared. Maybe someone else could have the same problem and could solve it more quickly than me.

WebXR's requestReferenceSpace only works if the corresponding feature was requested at session creation time. For simplicity, just ask for the interesting ones as optional features, but be aware that the requestReferenceSpace call will fail if it turns out to be unavailable. ('local' is always available for immersive sessions and doesn't need to be requested separately.)
