So, change icmp(v6)_sk creation/disposal to the scheme used in the netlink for rtnl, i.e. create a socket in the context of the init_net and assign the namespace without getting a referrence later. Own __icmp(v6)_sk should be present in each namespace. So, it should be allocated dynamically. Though, alloc_percpu does not fit the case as it implies additional dereferrence for no bonus. We have to get socket lock inside icmp(v6)_xmit_lock/unlock. The socket is get from global variable now. When this code became namespaces, one should pass a namespace and get socket from it. Though, above is useless. Socket is available in the caller, just pass it inside. When a new address is added, we must check if the new address does not already exists. This patch makes this check to be aware of a network namespace, so the check will look if the address already exists for the specified network namespace. While the addresses are browsed, the addresses which do not belong to the namespace are discarded. Each network namespace wants its own set of sysctl value, eg. we should not be able from a namespace to set a sysctl value for another namespace , especially for the initial network namespace. This patch duplicates the sysctl table when we register a new network namespace for ipv6. The duplicated table are postfixed with the "template" word to notify the developper the table is cloned. RFC 4301 requires us to relookup ICMP traffic that does not match any policies using the reverse of its payload. This patch implements this for ICMP traffic that originates from or terminates on localhost. This is activated on outbound with the new policy flag XFRM_POLICY_ICMP, and on inbound by the new state flag XFRM_STATE_ICMP. On inbound the policy check is now performed by the ICMP protocol so that it can repeat the policy check where necessary. Background: RFC 4293 deprecates existing individual, named ICMP type counters to be replaced with the ICMPMsgStatsTable. This table includes entries for both IPv4 and IPv6, and requires counting of all ICMP types, whether or not the machine implements the type. These patches "remove" (but not really) the existing counters, and replace them with the ICMPMsgStats tables for v4 and v6. It includes the named counters in the /proc places they were, but gets the values for them from the new tables. It also counts packets generated from raw socket output (e.g., OutEchoes, MLD queries, RA's from radvd, etc). Changes: 1) create icmpmsg_statistics mib 2) create icmpv6msg_statistics mib 3) modify existing counters to use these 4) modify /proc/net/snmp to add "IcmpMsg" with all ICMP types listed by number for easy SNMP parsing 5) modify /proc/net/snmp printing for "Icmp" to get the named data from new counters. There is a little typo in net/ipv6/icmp.c code, which prevents such messages to be delivered to the errqueue of the correspond raw socket, when the socket is CONNECTED. The typo is due to swap of local/remote addresses. Consider __raw_v6_lookup() function from net/ipv6/raw.c. When a raw socket is looked up usual way, it is something like: sk = __raw_v6_lookup(sk, nexthdr, daddr, saddr, IP6CB(skb)->iif); where "daddr" is a destination address of the incoming packet (IOW our local address), "saddr" is a source address of the incoming packet (the remote end). But when the raw socket is looked up for some icmp error report, in net/ipv6/icmp.c:icmpv6_notify() , daddr/saddr are obtained from the echoed fragment of the "bad" packet, i.e. "daddr" is the original destination address of that packet, "saddr" is our local address. Hence, for icmpv6_notify() must use "saddr, daddr" in its arguments, not "daddr, saddr" ... Steps to reproduce: Create some raw socket, connect it to an address, and cause some error situation: f.e. set ttl=1 where the remote address is more than 1 hop to reach. Set IPV6_RECVERR . Then send something and wait for the error (f.e. poll() with POLLERR|POLLIN). You should receive "time exceeded" icmp message (because of "ttl=1"), but the socket do not receive it. If you do not connect your raw socket, you will receive MSG_ERRQUEUE successfully. (The reason is that for unconnected socket there are no actual checks for local/remote addresses). This patch makes MIPv6 loadable module named "mip6". Here is a modprobe.conf(5) example to load it automatically when user application uses XFRM state for MIPv6: alias xfrm-type-10-43 mip6 alias xfrm-type-10-60 mip6 Some MIPv6 feature is not included by this modular, however, it should not be affected to other features like either IPsec or IPv6 with and without the patch. We may discuss XFRM, MH (RAW socket) and ancillary data/sockopt separately for future work. So that it is also an offset from skb->head, reduces its size from 8 to 4 bytes on 64bit architectures, allowing us to combine the 4 bytes hole left by the layer headers conversion, reducing struct sk_buff size to 256 bytes, i.e. 4 64byte cachelines, and since the sk_buff slab cache is SLAB_HWCACHE_ALIGN... :-) Many calculations that previously required that skb->{transport,network, mac}_header be first converted to a pointer now can be done directly, being meaningful as offsets or pointers. After Al Viro (finally) succeeded in removing the sched.h #include in module.h recently, it makes sense again to remove other superfluous sched.h includes. There are quite a lot of files which include it but don't actually need anything defined in there. Presumably these includes were once needed for macros that used to live in sched.h, but moved to other header files in the course of cleaning it up. To ease the pain, this time I did not fiddle with any header files and only removed #includes from .c-files, which tend to cause less trouble. Compile tested against 2.6.20-rc2 and 2.6.20-rc2-mm2 (with offsets) on alpha, arm, i386, ia64, mips, powerpc, and x86_64 with allnoconfig, defconfig, allmodconfig, and allyesconfig as well as a few randconfigs on x86_64 and all configs in arch/arm/configs on arm. I also checked that no new warnings were introduced by the patch (actually, some warnings are removed that were emitted by unnecessarily included header files). IPv6 source address is replaced in receiving packet with home address option carried by destination options header. To send ICMPv6 error back, original address which is received one on wire should be used. This function checks such header is included and reverts them. Based on MIPL2 kernel patch.
