Commit 1f2bfbd0 ("kbuild: link of vmlinux moved to a script") introduced in v3.5-rc1 broke kallsyms on architectures which have symbol prefixes. The --symbol-prefix argument used to be added to the KALLSYMS command line from the architecture Makefile, however this isn't picked up by the new scripts/link-vmlinux.sh. This resulted in symbols like kallsyms_addresses being added which weren't correctly overriding the weak symbols such as _kallsyms_addresses. These could then trigger BUG_ONs in kallsyms code. This is fixed by removing the KALLSYMS addition from the architecture Makefile, and using CONFIG_SYMBOL_PREFIX in the link-vmlinux.sh script to determine whether to add the --symbol-prefix argument. Same code. Use the generic version. The special Makefile treatment is pointless anyway as init_task.o contains only data which is handled by the linker script. So no point on being treated like head text. Common code now invokes the linker directly which causes build failures when using an FDPIC toolchain. So move the emulation setting out of the module-specific LDFLAGS and into the common LDFLAGS. Signed-off-by: NMike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>

It is now possible to assign options to AS, CC and LD on the command line - which is only used when building modules. {A,C,LD}FLAGS_MODULE was all used both in the top-level Makefile in the arch makefiles, thus users had no way to specify additional options to AS, CC, LD when building modules without overriding the original value. Introduce a new set of variables KBUILD_{A,C,LD}FLAGS_MODULE that is used by arch specific files and free up {A,C,LD}FLAGS_MODULE so they can be assigned on the command line. All arch Makefiles that used the old variables has been updated. Note: Previously we had a MODFLAGS variable for both AS and CC. But in favour of consistency this was dropped. So in some cases arch Makefile has one assignmnet replaced by two assignmnets. Note2: MODFLAGS was not documented and is dropped without any notice. I do not expect much/any breakage from this. Replace the use of CROSS_COMPILE to select a customized installkernel script with the possibility to set INSTALLKERNEL to select a custom installkernel script when running make: make INSTALLKERNEL=arm-installkernel install With this patch we are now more consistent across different architectures - they did not all support use of CROSS_COMPILE. The use of CROSS_COMPILE was a hack as this really belongs to gcc/binutils and the installkernel script does not change just because we change toolchain. The use of CROSS_COMPILE caused troubles with an upcoming patch that saves CROSS_COMPILE when a kernel is built - it would no longer be installable. [Thanks to Peter Z. for this hint] This patch undos what Ian did in commit: 0f8e2d62 ("use ${CROSS_COMPILE}installkernel in arch/*/boot/install.sh") The patch has been lightly tested on x86 only - but all changes looks obvious. The ADSP-BF54x was specifically designed to meet the needs of convergent multimedia applications where system performance and cost are essential ingredients. The integration of multimedia, human interface, and connectivity peripherals combined with increased system bandwidth and on-chip memory provides customers a platform to design the most demanding applications. Since now, ADSP-BF54x will be supported in the Linux kernel and bunch of related drivers such as USB OTG, ATAPI, NAND flash controller, LCD framebuffer, sound, touch screen will be submitted later.
