drm: Only evict the blocks required to create the requested hole · 901593f2
      Chris Wilson 提交于
Avoid clobbering adjacent blocks if they happen to expire earlier and
amalgamate together to form the requested hole.

In passing this fixes a regression from
      commit ea7b1dd4
      Author: Daniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch>
      Date: Fri Feb 18 17:59:12 2011 +0100

drm: mm: track free areas implicitly

which swaps the end address for size (with a potential overflow) and
effectively causes the eviction code to clobber almost all earlier
      buffers above the evictee.

v2: Check the original hole not the adjusted as the coloring may confuse
us when later searching for the overlapping nodes. Also make sure that
we do apply the range restriction and color adjustment in the same
order for both scanning, searching and insertion.

v3: Send the version that was actually tested.

Note that this seems to be ducttape of decent quality ot paper over
some of our unbind related gpu hangs reported since 3.7. It is not
fully effective though, and certainly doesn't fix the underlying bug.

      drm/ttm: remove no_wait_reserve, v3 · 97a875cb
      Maarten Lankhorst 提交于
All items on the lru list are always reservable, so this is a stupid
thing to keep. Not only that, it is used in a way which would
guarantee deadlocks if it were ever to be set to block on reserve.

This is a lot of churn, but mostly because of the removal of the
argument which can be nested arbitrarily deeply in many places.

No change of code in this patch except removal of the no_wait_reserve
argument, the previous patch removed the use of no_wait_reserve.

      v2:
       - Warn if -EBUSY is returned on reservation, all objects on the list
should be reservable. Adjusted patch slightly due to conflicts.
      v3:
       - Focus on no_wait_reserve removal only.

      drm/i915: Stop using AGP layer for GEN6+ · e76e9aeb
      Ben Widawsky 提交于
As a quick hack we make the old intel_gtt structure mutable so we can
fool a bunch of the existing code which depends on elements in that data
structure. We can/should try to remove this in a subsequent patch.

This should preserve the old gtt init behavior which upon writing these
patches seems incorrect. The next patch will fix these things.

The one exception is VLV which doesn't have the preserved flush control
write behavior. Since we want to do that for all GEN6+ stuff, we'll
handle that in a later patch. Mainstream VLV support doesn't actually
      exist yet anyway.

      drm/i915: Allow DRM_ROOT_ONLY|DRM_MASTER to submit privileged batchbuffers · d7d4eedd
      Chris Wilson 提交于
With the introduction of per-process GTT space, the hardware designers
thought it wise to also limit the ability to write to MMIO space to only
a "secure" batch buffer. The ability to rewrite registers is the only
way to program the hardware to perform certain operations like scanline
waits (required for tear-free windowed updates). So we either have a
choice of adding an interface to perform those synchronized updates
inside the kernel, or we permit certain processes the ability to write
to the "safe" registers from within its command stream. This patch
exposes the ability to submit a SECURE batch buffer to
      DRM_ROOT_ONLY|DRM_MASTER processes.

v2: Haswell split up bit8 into a ppgtt bit (still bit8) and a security
bit (bit 13, accidentally not set). Also add a comment explaining why
secure batches need a global gtt binding.

UAPI: Remove empty non-UAPI Kbuild files · 64d7155c
      David Howells 提交于
Remove non-UAPI Kbuild files that have become empty as a result of UAPI
disintegration. They used to have only header-y lines in them and those have
now moved to the Kbuild files in the corresponding uapi/ directories.

Possibly these should not be removed but rather have a comment inserted to say
they are intentionally left blank. This would make it easier to add generated
header lines in future without having to restore the infrastructure.

Note that at this point not all the UAPI disintegration parts have been merged,
so it is likely that more empty Kbuild files will turn up.

It is probably necessary to make the files non-empty to prevent the patch
program from automatically deleting them when it reduces them to nothing.
