The patch removes struct eeh_dev::dn and the corresponding helper functions: eeh_dev_to_of_node() and of_node_to_eeh_dev(). Originally, EEH probes on device_node or pci_dev and populates the corresponding eeh_dev. In the subsequent patches, EEH will probes on pci_dn and populates the corresponding eeh_dev. So we have to cache some information in pci_dn, either from device_node or SRIOV PF's enablement platform hook, to populate the eeh_dev properly. The motivation to probe pci_dn, instead of device node or pci_dev, to populate eeh_dev is SRIOV VFs are dynamically created and we don't have the corresponding device nodes for them. Currently, the PCI config accessors are implemented based on device node. Unfortunately, SRIOV VFs won't have the corresponding device nodes. pci_dn will be used in replacement with device node for SRIOV VFs. So we have to use pci_dn in PCI config accessors. The patch refactors pci_dn in following aspects to make it ready to be used in PCI config accessors as we do in subsequent patch: * pci_dn is organized as a hierarchy tree. PCI device's pci_dn is put to the child list of pci_dn of its upstream bridge or PHB. VF's pci_dn will be put to the child list of pci_dn of PF's bridge. * For one particular PCI device (VF or not), its pci_dn can be found from pdev->dev.archdata.pci_data, PCI_DN(devnode), or parent's list. The fast path (fetching pci_dn through PCI device instance) is populated during early fixup time. When we do normal hotplug, the PE (shadow EEH structure) shouldn't be kept around. However, we need to keep it if the hotplug an artifial one caused by EEH errors recovery. Since we remove EEH device through the PCI hook pcibios_release_device(), the flag "purge_pe" passed to various functions is meaningless. So the patch removes the meaningless flag and introduce new flag "EEH_PE_KEEP" to save the PE while doing hotplug during EEH error recovery. The PCI core supports an offset per aperture nowadays but our arch code still has a single offset per host bridge representing the difference betwen CPU memory addresses and PCI MMIO addresses. This is a problem as new machines and hypervisor versions are coming out where the 64-bit windows will have a different offset (basically mapped 1:1) from the 32-bit windows. This fixes it by using separate offsets. In the long run, we probably want to get rid of that intermediary struct pci_controller and have those directly stored into the pci_host_bridge as they are parsed but this will be a more invasive change. Up to now the PCIe link status on Freescale PCIe controllers was only checked once at boot time. So hotplug did not work. With this patch the link status is checked on every config read. The kernel crash was reported by Alexy. He was testing some feature with private kernel, in which Alexy added some code in pci_pm_reset() to read the CSR after writting it. The bug could be reproduced on Fiber Channel card (Fibre Channel: Emulex Corporation Saturn-X: LightPulse Fibre Channel Host Adapter (rev 03)) by the following commands. # echo 1 > /sys/devices/pci0004:01/0004:01:00.0/reset # rmmod lpfc # modprobe lpfc The history behind the test case is that those additional config space reading operations in pci_pm_reset() would cause EEH error, but we didn't detect EEH error until "modprobe lpfc". For the case, all the PCI devices on PCI bus (0004:01) were removed and added after PE reset. Then the EEH devices would be figured out again based on the OF nodes. Unfortunately, there were some child OF nodes under PCI device (0004:01:00.0), but they didn't have attached PCI_DN since they're invisible from PCI domain. However, we were still trying to convert OF node to EEH device without checking on the attached PCI_DN. Function eeh_rmv_from_parent_pe() could be called by the path of either normal PCI hotplug, or EEH recovery. For the former case, we need purge the corresponding PE on removal of the associated PE bus. The patch tries to cover that by passing more information to function pcibios_remove_pci_devices() so that we know if the corresponding PE needs to be purged or be marked as "invalid". The idea comes from Benjamin Herrenschmidt. The eeh cache helps fetching the pci device according to the given I/O address. Since the eeh cache is serving for eeh, it's reasonable for eeh cache to trace eeh device except pci device. The patch make eeh cache to trace eeh device. Also, the major eeh entry function eeh_dn_check_failure has been renamed to eeh_dev_check_failure since it will take eeh device as input parameter. This adds support for p7IOC (and possibly other IODA v1 IO Hubs) using OPAL v2 interfaces. We completely take over resource assignment and assign them using an algorithm that hands out device BARs in a way that makes them fit in individual segments of the M32 window of the bridge, which enables us to assign individual PEs to devices and functions. The current implementation gives out a PE per functions on PCIe, and a PE for the entire bridge for PCIe to PCI-X bridges. This can be adjusted / fine tuned later. We also setup DMA resources (32-bit only for now) and MSIs (both 32-bit and 64-bit MSI are supported). The DMA allocation tries to divide the available 256M segments of the 32-bit DMA address space "fairly" among PEs. This is done using a "weight" heuristic which assigns less value to things like OHCI USB controllers than, for example SCSI RAID controllers. powerpc has two different ways of matching PCI devices to their corresponding OF node (if any) for historical reasons. The ppc64 one does a scan looking for matching bus/dev/fn, while the ppc32 one does a scan looking only for matching dev/fn on each level in order to be agnostic to busses being renumbered (which Linux does on some platforms). This removes both and instead moves the matching code to the PCI core itself. It's the most logical place to do it: when a pci_dev is created, we know the parent and thus can do a single level scan for the matching device_node (if any). The benefit is that all archs now get the matching for free. There's one hook the arch might want to provide to match a PHB bus to its device node. A default weak implementation is provided that looks for the parent device device node, but it's not entirely reliable on powerpc for various reasons so powerpc provides its own. Currently, ppc32 uses sysdata for the pci_controller pointer, and ppc64 uses it to hold the device_node pointer. This patch moves the of_node pointer into (struct pci_bus*)->dev.of_node and (struct pci_dev*)->dev.of_node so that sysdata can be converted to always use the pci_controller pointer instead. The PCI device tree scanning code in pci_64.c is some useful functionality. It allows PCI devices to be described in the device tree instead of being probed for, which in turn allows pci devices to use all of the device tree facilities to describe complex PCI bus architectures like GPIO and IRQ routing (perhaps not a common situation for desktop or server systems, but useful for embedded systems with on-board PCI devices). This patch moves the device tree scanning into pci-common.c so it is available for 32-bit powerpc machines too. Also, convert them to resource_size_t (which is unsigned long on 64-bit, so it's not a change there). We will be using these on fsl 32b to indicate the start and size address of memory that the pci controller can actually reach - this is needed to determine if an address requires bounce buffering. For now, initialize them to a standard value; in the near future, the value will be calculated based on how the inbound windows are programmed. Currently there are a number of platforms that open code access to the ppc_pci_flags global variable. However, that variable is not present if CONFIG_PCI is not set, which can lead to a build break. This introduces a number of accessor functions that are defined to be empty in the case of CONFIG_PCI being disabled. The various platform files in the kernel are updated to use these. The pseries PCI hotplug code has a number of issues, ranging from incorrect resource setup to crashes, depending on what is added, when, whether it contains a bridge, etc etc.... This fixes a whole bunch of these, while actually simplifying the code a bit, using more generic code in the process and factoring out common code between adding of a PHB, a slot or a device. The 32-bit and 64-bit powerpc PCI code used to set up the resource pointers of the root bus of a given PHB in completely different places. This unifies this in large part, by making 32-bit use a routine very similar to what 64-bit does when initially scanning the PCI busses. The actual setup of the PHB resources itself is then moved to a common function in pci-common.c. This should cause no functional change on 64-bit. On 32-bit, the effect is that the PHB resources are going to be setup a bit earlier, instead of being setup from pcibios_fixup_bus().
