      of: Remove duplicate fields from of_platform_driver · 4018294b
      Grant Likely 提交于
      .name, .match_table and .owner are duplicated in both of_platform_driver
      and device_driver. This patch is a removes the extra copies from struct
      of_platform_driver and converts all users to the device_driver members.

      This patch is a pretty mechanical change. The usage model doesn't change
      and if any drivers have been missed, or if anything has been fixed up
      incorrectly, then it will fail with a compile time error, and the fixup
      will be trivial. This patch looks big and scary because it touches so
      many files, but it should be pretty safe.

      dma-mapping: sparc: unify 32bit and 64bit dma_set_mask · 34900429
      FUJITA Tomonori 提交于
      This patchset transforms the PCI DMA API into the generic device model.
      It's one of the reasons why we introduced the generic DMA API long ago;
      driver writers are always able to use the generic DMA API with any bus
      instead of using bus specific DMA APIs such as pci_map_single,
      sbus_map_single, etc (only two bus specific APIs exist now; pci and ssb).

      Some of the PCI DMA API are already implented on the top of the generic
      DMA API (include/asm-generic/pci-dma-compat.h). But there are some
      exceptions. This patchset finishes the transformation.

      This patch:

      sparc has two dma_set_mask implementations for 32bit and 64bit. They are
      same except for the error returned value. We can safely unify them since
      the error returned value doesn't matter as long as it is negative (as
      DMA-API.txt describes).

      This patch also changes dma_set_mask not to call
      pci_set_dma_mask. Instead, dma_set_mask does the same thing that
      pci_set_dma_mask does. This change enables ut to change
      pci_set_dma_mask to call dma_set_mask; we can implement
      pci_set_dma_mask as pci-dma-compat.h does.

      On an architecture that supports 32-bit compat we need to override the

      Add generic sys_ipc wrapper · baed7fc9
      Christoph Hellwig 提交于
      Add a generic implementation of the ipc demultiplexer syscall. Except for
      s390 and sparc64 all implementations of the sys_ipc are nearly identical.

      There are slight differences in the types of the parameters, where mips
      and powerpc as the only 64-bit architectures with sys_ipc use unsigned
      long for the "third" argument as it gets casted to a pointer later, while
      it traditionally is an "int" like most other paramters. frv goes even
      further and uses unsigned long for all parameters execept for "ptr" which
      is a pointer type everywhere. The change from int to unsigned long for
      "third" and back to "int" for the others on frv should be fine due to the
      in-register calling conventions for syscalls (we already had a similar
      issue with the generic sys_ptrace), but I'd prefer to have the arch
      maintainers looks over this in details.

      Except for that h8300, m68k and m68knommu lack an impplementation of the
      semtimedop sub call which this patch adds, and various architectures have
      gets used - at least on i386 it seems superflous as the compat code on
      x86-64 and ia64 doesn't even bother to implement it.

      MM: Pass a PTE pointer to update_mmu_cache() rather than the PTE itself · 4b3073e1
      Russell King 提交于
      On VIVT ARM, when we have multiple shared mappings of the same file
      in the same MM, we need to ensure that we have coherency across all
      copies. We do this via make_coherent() by making the pages
      uncacheable.

      This used to work fine, until we allowed highmem with highpte - we
      now have a page table which is mapped as required, and is not available
      for modification via update_mmu_cache().

      Ralf Beache suggested getting rid of the PTE value passed to
      update_mmu_cache():

        On MIPS update_mmu_cache() calls __update_tlb() which walks pagetables
        to construct a pointer to the pte again. Passing a pte_t * is much
        more elegant. Maybe we might even replace the pte argument with the
        pte_t?

      Ben Herrenschmidt would also like the pte pointer for PowerPC:

        Passing the ptep in there is exactly what I want. I want that
        -instead- of the PTE value, because I have issue on some ppc cases,
        for I$/D$ coherency, where set_pte_at() may decide to mask out the
        _PAGE_EXEC.

      So, pass in the mapped page table pointer into update_mmu_cache(), and
      remove the PTE value, updating all implementations and call sites to
      suit.

      sparc: cpumask_of_node() should handle -1 as a node · e5981fd6
      Anton Blanchard 提交于
      pcibus_to_node can return -1 if we cannot determine which node a pci bus
      is on. If passed -1, cpumask_of_node will negatively index the lookup array
      and pull in random data:

      # cat /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:01.0/local_cpus
      00000000,00000003,00000000,00000000
      # cat /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:01.0/local_cpulist
      64-65

      Change cpumask_of_node to check for -1 and return cpu_all_mask in this
      case:

      # cat /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:01.0/local_cpus

      sparc: convert to arch_gettimeoffset() · 0299b137
      John Stultz 提交于
      This patch converts sparc (specifically sparc32) to use GENERIC_TIME via
      the arch_getoffset() infrastructure, reducing the amount of arch
      specific code we need to maintain.

      The sparc architecture is one of the last 3 arches that need to be
      converted.

      This patch applies on top of Linus' current -git tree

      I've taken my best swing at converting this, but I'm not 100% confident
      I got it right. My cross-compiler is now out of date (gcc4.2) so I
      wasn't able to check if it compiled. Any assistance from arch
      maintainers or testers to get this merged would be great.
