This is a cosmetic patch only. Comparison of the resulting binary showed only line number differences. This patch does not affect the generation of the Linux binary. This patch decreases 314 lines of 20121018 divergence.diff. ACPICA core uses ()'s on return statements. This is a known and committed differences from Linux standard coding style. This patch cleans up the Linux side ACPICA code to use this codying style in order to reduce the source code differences between Linux and ACPICA. This interface allows the host to override a table via a physical address, instead of the logical address required by acpi_os_table_override. This simplifies the host implementation. Initial implementation by Thomas Renninger. ACPICA implementation creates a single function for table overrides that attempts both a logical and a physical override. During early boot, ACPI RSDT/XSDT table entries are gathered into the 'initial_tables[]' array. This array is currently statically defined (see ./drivers/acpi/tables.c). When there are more table entries than can be held in the 'initial_tables[]' array, the message "Truncating N table entries!" is output. As currently implemented, this message will always erroneously calculate N as 0. This patch fixes the calculation that determines how many table entries will be missing (truncated). This modification may be used under either the GPL or the BSD-style license used for Intel ACPI CA code. On some boxes there exist both RSDT and XSDT table. But unfortunately sometimes there exists the following error when XSDT table is used: a. 32/64X address mismatch b. The 32/64X FACS address mismatch In such case the boot option of "acpi=rsdt" is provided so that RSDT is tried instead of XSDT table when the system can't work well. http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8246Signed-off-by: NZhao Yakui <yakui.zhao@intel.com> cc:Thomas Renninger <trenn@suse.de> Signed-off-by: NLen Brown <len.brown@intel.com>

ACPI 1.0 used an RSDT with 32-bit physical addresses. ACPI 2.0 adds an XSDT with 32-bit physical addresses. An ACPI 2.0 aware OS is supposed to use the XSDT (when present) instead of the RSDT. However, several systems have failed because the XSDT contains NULL entries -- while it is missing pointers to needed tables, such as SSDTs. When we find an XSDT with NULL entries, discard it and use the ACPI 1.0 RSDT instead. http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8630Signed-off-by: NZhao Yakui <yakui.zhao@intel.com> Signed-off-by: NLen Brown <len.brown@intel.com>
