Requiring contiguous kernel memory is not a good idea, this is a limited resource and allocation can fail under normal work loads. This introduces a .write_sg op that supporting drivers can provide to DMA directly from dis-contiguous memory and a new entry point fpga_mgr_buf_load_sg that users can call to directly provide page lists. The full matrix of compatibility is provided, either the linear or sg interface can be used by the user with a driver supporting either interface. A notable change for drivers is that the .write op can now be called multiple times. When the binding was defined, I was not aware that mt2701 was an earlier version of the SoC. For sake of consistency, the ethernet driver should use mt2701 inside the compat string as this is the earliest SoC with the ethernet core. The ethernet driver is currently of no real use until we finish and upstream the DSA driver. There are no users of this binding yet. It should be safe to fix this now before it is too late and we need to provide backward compatibility for the mt7623-eth compat string. Introduce a new "protect-exec" reserved sram area type which is makes use of the the existing functionality provided for the "pool" sram region type for use with the genalloc framework and with the added requirement that it be maintained as read-only and executable while allowing for an arbitrary number of drivers to share the space. This introduces a common way to maintain a region of sram as read-only and executable and also introduces a helper function, sram_exec_copy, which allows for copying data to this protected region while maintaining locking to avoid conflicts between multiple users of the same space. A region of memory that is marked with the "protect-exec" flag in the device tree also has the requirement of providing a page aligned block of memory so that the page attribute manipulation does not affect surrounding regions. Also, selectively enable this only for builds that support set_memory_* calls, for now just ARM, through the use of Kconfig. The old description basically read like "ethernet-phy-idAAAA.BBBB" can be specified when you know the actual PHY ID. However, specifying this has a side-effect: it forces Linux to bind to a certain PHY driver (the one that matches the ID given in the compatible string), ignoring the ID which is reported by the actual PHY. Whenever a device is shipped with (multiple) different PHYs during it's production lifetime then explicitly specifying "ethernet-phy-idAAAA.BBBB" could break certain revisions of that device. Ignore value of interrupt distribution mode for common interrupts in IDU since setting of affinity using value from Device Tree is deprecated in ARC. Originally it is done in idu_irq_xlate() function and it is semantically wrong and does not guaranty that an affinity value will be set properly. idu_irq_enable() function is better place for initialization of common interrupts. By default send all common interrupts to all available online CPUs. The affinity of common interrupts in IDU must be set manually since in some cases the kernel will not call irq_set_affinity() by itself: 1. When the kernel is not configured with support of SMP. 2. When the kernel is configured with support of SMP but upper interrupt controllers does not support setting of the affinity and cannot propagate it to IDU. Sometimes, the users may require a quirk to be provided from ACPI subsystem core to prevent a GPE from flooding. Normally, if a GPE cannot be dispatched, ACPICA core automatically prevents the GPE from firing. But there are cases the GPE is dispatched by _Lxx/_Exx provided via AML table, and OSPM is lacking of the knowledge to get _Lxx/_Exx correctly executed to handle the GPE, thus the GPE flooding may still occur. The existing quirk mechanism can be enabled/disabled using the following commands to prevent such kind of GPE flooding during runtime: # echo mask > /sys/firmware/acpi/interrupts/gpe00 # echo unmask > /sys/firmware/acpi/interrupts/gpe00 To avoid GPE flooding during boot, we need a boot stage mechanism. This patch provides such a boot stage quirk mechanism to stop this kind of GPE flooding. This patch doesn't fix any feature gap but since the new feature gaps could be found in the future endlessly, and can disappear if the feature gaps are filled, providing a boot parameter rather than a DMI table should suffice. The patches regarding eee-broken-modes was merged before all people involved could find an agreement on the best way to move forward. While we agreed on having a DT property to mark particular modes as broken, the value used for eee-broken-modes mapped the phy register in very direct way. Because of this, the concern is that it could be used to implement configuration policies instead of describing a broken HW. In the end, having a boolean property for each mode seems to be preferred over one bit field value mapping the register (too) directly. The IMA binary_runtime_measurements list is currently in platform native format. To allow restoring a measurement list carried across kexec with a different endianness than the targeted kernel, this patch defines little-endian as the canonical format. For big endian systems wanting to save/restore the measurement list from a system with a different endianness, a new boot command line parameter named "ima_canonical_fmt" is defined. Considerations: use of the "ima_canonical_fmt" boot command line option will break existing userspace applications on big endian systems expecting the binary_runtime_measurements list to be in platform native format. Current code returns EXDEV when a directory would need to be copied up to move. We could copy up the directory tree in this case, but there's another, simpler solution: point to old lower directory from moved upper directory. This is achieved with a "trusted.overlay.redirect" xattr storing the path relative to the root of the overlay. After such attribute has been set, the directory can be moved without further actions required. This is a backward incompatible feature, old kernels won't be able to correctly mount an overlay containing redirected directories. Signed-off-by: NMiklos Szeredi <mszeredi@redhat.com>
