NET/ROM is lacking a connection reset like TCP's RST flag which at times may result in a connecting having to slowly timing out instead of just being reset. An earlier attempt to reset the connection by sending a NR_CONNACK | NR_CHOKE_FLAG transport was inacceptable as it did result in crashes of BPQ systems. An alternative approach of introducing a new transport type 7 (NR_RESET) has be implemented several years ago in Paula Jayne Dowie G8PZT's Xrouter. Implement NR_RESET for Linux's NET/ROM but like any messing with the state engine consider this experimental for now and thus control it by a sysctl (net.netrom.reset) which for the time being defaults to off. For reason that probably nobody recalls NET/ROM does it's actual packet transmission in nr_rebuild_header and even treats invocation of it's hard_start_xmit method nr_xmit as a bug. Fix that by splitting the job done by nr_rebuild_header into two halves. Along with that we now also can get rid of the silly clone of the skb on transmit. Kernel connector - new userspace <-> kernel space easy to use communication module which implements easy to use bidirectional message bus using netlink as it's backend. Connector was created to eliminate complex skb handling both in send and receive message bus direction. Connector driver adds possibility to connect various agents using as one of it's backends netlink based network. One must register callback and identifier. When driver receives special netlink message with appropriate identifier, appropriate callback will be called. From the userspace point of view it's quite straightforward: socket(); bind(); send(); recv(); But if kernelspace want to use full power of such connections, driver writer must create special sockets, must know about struct sk_buff handling... Connector allows any kernelspace agents to use netlink based networking for inter-process communication in a significantly easier way: int cn_add_callback(struct cb_id *id, char *name, void (*callback) (void *)); void cn_netlink_send(struct cn_msg *msg, u32 __groups, int gfp_mask); struct cb_id { __u32 idx; __u32 val; }; idx and val are unique identifiers which must be registered in connector.h for in-kernel usage. void (*callback) (void *) - is a callback function which will be called when message with above idx.val will be received by connector core. Using connector completely hides low-level transport layer from it's users. Connector uses new netlink ability to have many groups in one socket. The bulk of the change. Use per cpu MCA/INIT stacks. Change the SAL to OS state (sos) to be per process. Do all the assembler work on the MCA/INIT stacks, leaving the original stack alone. Pass per cpu state data to the C handlers for MCA and INIT, which also means changing the mca_drv interfaces slightly. Lots of verification on whether the original stack is usable before converting it to a sleeping process. Signed-off-by: NKeith Owens <kaos@sgi.com> Signed-off-by: NTony Luck <tony.luck@intel.com>

Reading the INIT record from SAL during the INIT event has proved to be unreliable, and a source of hangs during INIT processing. The new MCA/INIT handlers remove the need to get the INIT record from SAL. Change salinfo.c so mca.c can just flag that a new record is available, without having to read the record during INIT processing. This patch can be applied without the new MCA/INIT handlers. Also clean up some usage of NR_CPUS which should have been using cpu_online(). Signed-off-by: NKeith Owens <kaos@sgi.com> Signed-off-by: NTony Luck <tony.luck@intel.com>

When introducing the generic asm-offsets.h support the dependency chain for the prepare targets was changed. All build scripts expecting include/asm/asm-offsets.h to be made when using the prepare target would broke. With the limited number of prepare targets left in arch Makefiles the trivial solution was to introduce a new arch specific target: archprepare The dependency chain looks like this now: prepare | +--> prepare0 | +--> archprepare | +--> scripts_basic +--> prepare1 | +---> prepare2 | +--> prepare3 So prepare 3 is processed before prepare2 etc. This guaantees that the asm symlink, version.h, scripts_basic are all updated before archprepare is processed. prepare0 which build the asm-offsets.h file will need the actions performed by archprepare. The head target is now named prepare, because users scripts will most likely use that target, but prepare-all has been kept for compatibility. Updated Documentation/kbuild/makefiles.txt.
