While working on PS I've noticed elp_work is kicking rather often, and sometimes the chip is put to sleep before 5ms delay expires. This seems to happen because by the time wl1251_ps_elp_wakeup is called elp_work might still be pending. After wakeup is done, the processing may take some time, during which 5ms might expire and elp_work might get scheduled. In this case, ss soon as 1st thread finishes work and releases the mutex, elp_work will then put the device to sleep without 5ms delay. In addition 1st thread will queue additional elp_work needlessly. Fix this by cancelling work in wl1251_ps_elp_wakeup instead. wl1251_ps_set_elp() only does acx_sleep_auth call and takes the chip from/to ELP, however all callers of wl1251_ps_set_mode() have already taken the chip out of ELP and puts it back to ELP when they finish. This makes ELP calls (and register writes they result in) superfluous. So remove wl1251_ps_set_elp function and call acx_sleep_auth directly. wl1271 driver is under heavy development but on the other hand the older wl1251 driver is currently considered more as a legacy driver. To make it easier to develop wl1271 features move wl1251 to it's own directory, drivers/net/wireless/wl1251. There are no functional changes, only moving of files. One regression is that Kconfig won't be updated automatically and user needs to enable wl1251 manually with an older config file. Signed-off-by: NKalle Valo <kvalo@adurom.com> Signed-off-by: NJohn W. For some unknown reason ELP_CTRL can't be accesed using sdio_memcpy_* functions (any attemts to do so result in timeouts): wl1251: ERROR sdio write failed (-110) wl1251: ERROR sdio read failed (-110) wl1251: WARNING WLAN not ready To fix this, add special IO functions for ELP_CTRL access that are using sdio_readb/sdio_writeb. Similar handling is done in TI reference driver from Android code drop. Implement (slightly) delayed entry into ELP. This will cure several problems: - It works around a firmware race condition if ELP is entered too fast after commands (resulting in ELP timeout -traces) - It will reduce the number of sleep-wake cycles between already scheduled events such as interrupts and tx, hence improving performance (less delay in switching between RX and TX) Signed-off-by: NJuuso Oikarinen <juuso.oikarinen@nokia.com> Reviewed-by: NVidhya Govindan <vidhya.govindan@nokia.com> Signed-off-by: NKalle Valo <kalle.valo@nokia.com> Signed-off-by: NJohn W. In order to eventually support wl1251 spi and sdio interfaces, move the register and memory transfer functions to a common file. Also rename wl1251_spi_mem_{read,write} to indicate its common usage. We still use spi_read internally until SDIO interface is introduced so nothing functional should change here. Rework cmd and acx interfaces, it was just too confusing earlier. Now all commands need to contain all the needed headers, either just cmd headers or both cmd and acx headers. This accomplish to remove the extra copy done for each command. The interfaces are now properly documented as well. Also try to make all commands safe for DMA transfers. I might have missed some, but most of them should be fixed now. And this is not all! As a free bonus you will also get some cosmetic cleanups and code reorganisation. Order today! wl12xx is a driver for TI wl1251 802.11 chipset designed for embedded devices, supporting both SDIO and SPI busses. Currently the driver supports only SPI. Adding support 1253 (the 5 GHz version) should be relatively easy.
