There is no reason to replace one error with another. smatch message: drivers/hwmon/emc2103.c:352 set_fan_div() info: why not propagate 'status' from i2c_smbus_read_byte_data() instead of (-5)? Reviewed-by: NJean Delvare <jdelvare@suse.de> Signed-off-by: NGuenter Roeck <linux@roeck-us.net>

kstrtol() returns appropriate error values. Use those instead of hardcoding. Silences several sparse messages of following type: "why not propagate 'result' from kstrtol() instead of (-22)?" I no longer have a mailbox at smsc.com, and I've had two reports that that email address now bounces from people trying to contact me. This patch updates all references to that invalid address to one that I can be contacted on more permanently. This patch also updates the maintainer status to reflect the fact I'm no longer directly paid to maintain these drivers. Fix: emc2103.c: In function set_pwm_enable: emc2103.c:463:12: warning: conf_reg may be used uninitialized in this function by checking the return value from read_u8_from_i2c(). This fixes a real problem, as conf_reg is really uninitialized if read_u8_from_i2c returns an error. For historical reasons, we allow module_param(bool) to take an int (or an unsigned int). That's going away. A few drivers really want an int: they set it to -1 and a parameter will set it to 0 or 1. This sucks: reading them from sysfs will give 'Y' for both -1 and 1, but if we change it to an int, then the users might be broken (if they did "param" instead of "param=1"). Use a new 'bint' parser for them. (ntfs has a different problem: it needs an int for debug_msgs because it's also exposed via sysctl.)
