The mailbox hardware (in OMAP) uses a queued mailbox interrupt mechanism that provides a communication channel between processors through a set of registers and their associated interrupt signals by sending and receiving messages. The OMAP mailbox framework/driver code is moved to be under drivers/mailbox, in preparation for adapting to a common mailbox driver framework. This allows the build for OMAP mailbox to be enabled (it was disabled during the multi-platform support). As part of the migration from plat and mach code: - Kconfig symbols have been renamed to build OMAP1 or OMAP2+ drivers. - mailbox.h under plat-omap/plat/include has been split into a public and private header files. The OMAP mailbox platform driver code has been cleaned up to remove the dependencies with soc.h in preparation for moving the mailbox code to drivers folder. The code relied on cpu_is_xxx/soc_is_xxx macros previously to pick the the right set of mailbox devices and register with the mailbox driver. This data is now represented in a concise format and moved to the respective omap_hwmod data files and published to the driver through the platform data. Update the DMTIMER compatibility property to reflect the register level compatibilty between devices and update the various OMAP/AM timer bindings with the appropriate compatibility string. By doing this we can add platform specific data applicable to specific timer versions to the driver. For example, errata flags can be populated for the timer versions that are impacted. Add a function so that OMAP dmtimers can be requested by device-tree node. This allows for devices, such as the internal DSP, or drivers, such as PWM, to reference a specific dmtimer node via the device-tree. Given that there are several APIs available for requesting dmtimers (by ID, by capability or by node) consolidate the code for all these functions into a single helper function that can be used by these request functions. When booting with device-tree the function pointer for detecting context loss is not populated. Ideally, the pm_runtime framework should be enhanced to allow a means for reporting context/state loss and we could avoid populating such function pointers altogether. In the interim until a generic non-device specific solution is in place, force a restore of the dmtimer when enabling the timer. The context loss handling in dmtimer appears to assume that omap_dm_timer_set_load_start() or omap_dm_timer_start() and omap_dm_timer_stop() bracket all interactions. Only the first two restore the context and the last updates the context loss counter. However omap_dm_timer_set_load() or omap_dm_timer_set_match() can reasonably be called outside this bracketing, and the fact that they call omap_dm_timer_enable() / omap_dm_timer_disable() suggest that is expected. So if, after a transition into and out of off-mode which would cause the dm timer to loose all state, omap_dm_timer_set_match() is called before omap_dm_timer_start(), the value read from OMAP_TIMER_CTRL_REG will be 'wrong' and this wrong value will be stored context.tclr so a subsequent omap_dm_timer_start() can fail (As the control register is wrong). Simplify this be doing the restore-from-context in omap_dm_timer_enable() so that whenever the timer is enabled, the context is correct. Also update the ctx_loss_count at the same time as we notice it is wrong - these is no value in delaying this until the omap_dm_timer_disable() as it cannot change while the timer is enabled. The timekeeping doesn't depend on HZ value in presence of fine grained clocksource and hence there should not be any time drift because of HZ value which was chosen to be divisor of 32768. OMAP has been using HZ = 128 value to avoid any time drift issues because of 32768 HZ clock. But with various measurements performed with HZ = 100, no time drift is observed and it also proves the point about HZ not having impact on time keeping on OMAP. 'omap_dma_reserve_channels' when used is suppose to be from command. so, it alreay has value before 1st call of omap_system_dma_probe. and it will never be changed again during running (not from ioctl). but 'dma_lch_count' is zero before 1st call of omap_system_dma_probe. so it will be failed for omap_dma_reserve_channels, when 1st call. so, need use 'd->lch_count' instead of 'dma_lch_count' for judging. We still need to fix up few places for multiplatform support, but that can proceed separately. Fix the issue by making the problem drivers depends !ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM for now. The remaining pieces that are not multiplatform compatible for omap2+ SoCs are: 1. Some drivers are using custom omap_dm_timer calls There are two drivers that are directly usign omap hardware timers for PWM and DSP clocking: drivers/media/rc/ir-rx51.c and drivers/staging/tidspbridge/core/dsp-clock.c. These can be fixed for multiplatform by allowing a minimal set of hardware timers to be accessed, and for some functionality by using the hrtimer framework. 2. Hardware OMAP4_ERRATA_I688 needs to be fixed up This can't be enabled for multiplatform configurations in it's current form. It may be possible to fix it up to do instruction replacement early on during init. Luckily it looks like this errata does not seem to get hit with mainline kernel code alone at least currently. 3. Legacy header needed for omap-sham.c Looks like it still needs mach/irqs.h for omap1 that does not exist for multiplatform systems. Just ifdef it for now. 4. Mailbox is waiting to get moved to drivers Disable it for now to avoid adding a dependency to the mailbox patches. We only want this initcall to run when the kernel is booted on omap SoCs. Fix the issue by initializing the the initcall from separately for omap1 and omap2+. This fixes the issue for omap2+ multiplatform configs as we are using omap_subsys_initcall there. The cpu_is_omap macros are now local to arch/arm/mach-omap2 in soc.h and plat/cpu.h can finally be dropped for omap2+. Thanks everybody for help with fixing the drivers. Note that we can now also remove the unused plat/cpu.h from smartreflex.c and isp.c as they will cause compile errors with ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM enabled. Looks like we missed plat-omap/fb.c for cpu_is_omap usage mach-omap2. This is the last user of cpu_is_omap, so let's quickly fix it up so we can finally remove plat/cpu.h for omap2lus. We want to limit cpu_is_omap macro usage to mach-omap2 only so we can make plat/cpu.h private. After this we can finally drop plat/cpu.h for omap2+. The OMAP2420 H4 board was the only board using the plat-omap/debug-devices.c code for configuring ethernet support. Now that OMAP2420 H4 has been migrated to use the generic gpmc code for configuring ethernet support, the debug-devices.c file is no longer used and so remove it and its header file. HSMMC IP on AM33xx need a special setting to handle High-speed cards. Other platforms like TI81xx, OMAP4 may need this as-well. This depends on the HSMMC IP timing closure done for the high speed cards. From AM335x TRM (SPRUH73F - 18.3.12 Output Signals Generation): The MMC/SD/SDIO output signals can be driven on either falling edge or rising edge depending on the SD_HCTL[2] HSPE bit. This feature allows to reach better timing performance, and thus to increase data transfer frequency. Based on earlier discussions[1] we attempted to find a suitable location for the omap DMA header in commit 2b6c4e73 (ARM: OMAP: DMA: Move plat/dma.h to plat-omap/dma-omap.h) until the conversion to dmaengine is complete. Unfortunately that was before I was able to try to test compile of the ARM multiplatform builds for omap2+, and the end result was not very good. So I'm creating yet another all over the place patch to cut the last dependency for building omap2+ for ARM multiplatform. After this, we have finally removed the driver dependencies to the arch/arm code, except for few drivers that are being worked on. The other option was to make the <plat-omap/dma-omap.h> path to work, but we'd have to add some new header directory to for multiplatform builds. Or we would have to manually include arch/arm/plat-omap/include again from arch/arm/Makefile for omap2+. Neither of these alternatives sound appealing as they will likely lead addition of various other headers exposed to the drivers, which we want to avoid for the multiplatform kernels. Since we already have a minimal include/linux/omap-dma.h, let's just use that instead and add a note to it to not use the custom omap DMA functions any longer where possible. Note that converting omap DMA to dmaengine depends on dmaengine supporting automatically incrementing the FIFO address at the device end, and converting all the remaining legacy drivers. CONFIG_OMAP_32K_TIMER is kind of standing on the single zImage way. Make OMAP2+ timer code independant from the CONFIG_OMAP_32K_TIMER setting. To remove the dependancy, several conversions/additions had to be done: 1) Timer initialization functions are named by the platform name and the clock source in use. This also makes it possible to define and use the GPTIMER as the clock source instead of the 32K timer on platforms that do not have the 32K timer ip block or the 32K timer is not wired on the board. Currently, the the timer is chosen in the machine_desc structure on per board basis. Later, DT should be used to choose the timer. 2) Settings under the CONFIG_OMAP_32K_TIMER option are used as defaults and those under !CONFIG_OMAP_32K_TIMER are removed. This removes the CONFIG_OMAP_32K_TIMER on OMAP2+ timer code. 3) Since we have all the timers defined inside machine_desc structure and we no longer need the fallback to gp_timer clock source in case 32k_timer clock source is unavailable (namely on AM33xx), we no longer need the #ifdef around omap2_sync32k_clocksource_init() function. Remove the #ifdef CONFIG_OMAP_32K_TIMER around the omap2_sync32k_clocksource_init() function. This file should not be in arch/arm. Move it to drivers/iommu to allow making most of the header local to drivers/iommu. Looks like the iommu framework does not have generic functions exported for all the needs yet. The hardware specific functions are defined in files like intel-iommu.h and amd-iommu.h. Follow the same standard for omap-iommu.h. This is needed because we are removing plat and mach includes for ARM common zImage support. Further work should continue in the iommu framework context as only pure platform data will be communicated from arch/arm/*omap*/* code to the iommu framework. The OMAP2+ system timer code stores the physical address of the timer but never uses it. Remove this and clean-up the code by removing the local variable "size" and changing the names of the local variables mem_rsrc and irq_rsrc to mem and irq, respectively.
