Generate and install the man, txt and html versions of QAPI documentation (generate and install qemu-doc.txt too). Add it also to optional pdf/info targets. Giving QMP its own subdirectory in docs/ is hardly worthwhile when we have just four files, and one of them isn't even in the subdirectory. Move the files from docs/qmp/ to docs/, renaming docs/qmp/README to docs/qmp-intro. Update MAINTAINERS. The new pattern also captures the fourth file docs/writing-qmp-commands.txt. qemu.org is held by a third-party and no core community contributor has access to the DNS configuration. This leaves the website exposed to outages due to DNS issues or IP address changes. For example, if the web server IP address needs to change we cannot guarantee qemu.org will point to it! The newer qemu-project.org domain name is owned by Anthony Liguori <anthony@codemonkey.ws>. You can confirm this by querying the whois information. Also note that the #qemu IRC channel topic already references qemu-project.org. Short of having a dedicated legal entity to hold the domain name on behalf of the community, qemu-project.org seems like the safest bet. Let's replace references to qemu.org with qemu-project.org. Note that git-submodule(1) does not detect URL changes. The following commands clear out and re-initialize all submodules to ensure you are using the latest URLs: $ git submodule deinit . # you'll be warned if you have local changes $ rm -rf .git/modules # also clear cached .git/ directories $ git submodule update --init Reviewed-by: NMarkus Armbruster <armbru@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: NStefan Hajnoczi <stefanha@redhat.com> Message-id: 1381495958-8306-1-git-send-email-stefanha@redhat.com Signed-off-by: NAnthony Liguori <aliguori@amazon.com>

This file contains a copy of the following information from the qemu-monitor.hx file: o QObject handlers entries o QMP documentation (all SQMP/EQMP sections) Right now it's only used to generate the QMP docs in QMP/, but next commits will turn this into QMP's command dispatch table. It's important to note that QObject handlers entries are going to get duplicated: they will exist in both QMP's and HMP's dispatch tables. This will be fixed in the near future, when we add a proper QMP call interface and HMP is converted to use it. This way we can completely drop QObject handlers entries from HMP's tables. NOTE: HMP specific constructions, like "q|quit", have been dropped. Signed-off-by: NLuiz Capitulino <lcapitulino@redhat.com>

One of the most important missing feature in QMP today is its supported commands documentation. The plan is to make it part of self-description support, however self-description is a big task we have been postponing for a long time now and still don't know when it's going to be done. In order not to compromise QMP adoption and make users' life easier, this commit adds a simple text documentation which fully describes all QMP supported commands. This is not ideal for a number of reasons (harder to maintain, text-only, etc) but does improve the current situation. To avoid at least divering from the user monitor help and texi snippets, QMP bits are also maintained inside qemu-monitor.hx, and hxtool is extended to generate a single text file from them. With capability negotiation support clients will only have a chance to check QEMU's version (ie. issue 'query-version') after the negotiation procedure is done. It might be useful to clients to check QEMU's version before negotiating features, though. To allow that, this commit adds the QEMU's version object to the greeting message. Not really sure this is needed, but doesn't hurt anyway. Signed-off-by: NLuiz Capitulino <lcapitulino@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: NAnthony Liguori <aliguori@us.ibm.com>
