To enable the virCapsPtr parameter to the post parse method to be eliminated, the drivers must fetch the virCapsPtr from their own driver via the opaque parameter, or use an alternative approach to validate the parsed data. The XML parser currently calls virCapabilitiesDomainDataLookup during parsing to find the domain capabilities matching the triple (virt type, os type, arch) This is, however, bogus with the QEMU driver as it assumes that there is an emulator known to the default driver capabilities that matches this triple. It is entirely possible for the driver to be parsing an XML file with a custom emulator path specified pointing to a binary that doesn't exist in the default driver capabilities. This will, for example be the case on a RHEL host which only installs the host native emulator to /usr/bin. The user can have built a custom QEMU for non-native arches into $HOME and wish to use that. Aside from validation, this call is also used to fill in a machine type for the guest if not otherwise specified. Again, this data may be incorrect for the QEMU driver because it is not taking account of the emulator binary that is referenced. To start fixing this, move the validation to the post-parse callbacks where more intelligent driver specific logic can be applied. In many files there are header comments that contain an Author: statement, supposedly reflecting who originally wrote the code. In a large collaborative project like libvirt, any non-trivial file will have been modified by a large number of different contributors. IOW, the Author: comments are quickly out of date, omitting people who have made significant contribitions. In some places Author: lines have been added despite the person merely being responsible for creating the file by moving existing code out of another file. IOW, the Author: lines give an incorrect record of authorship. With this all in mind, the comments are useless as a means to identify who to talk to about code in a particular file. Contributors will always be better off using 'git log' and 'git blame' if they need to find the author of a particular bit of code. This commit thus deletes all Author: comments from the source and adds a rule to prevent them reappearing. The Copyright headers are similarly misleading and inaccurate, however, we cannot delete these as they have legal meaning, despite being largely inaccurate. In addition only the copyright holder is permitted to change their respective copyright statement. Reviewed-by: NErik Skultety <eskultet@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: NDaniel P. All of the ones being removed are pulled in by internal.h. The only exception is sanlock which expects the application to include <stdint.h> before sanlock's headers, because sanlock prototypes use fixed width int, but they don't include stdint.h themselves, so we have to leave that one in place. Currently, the functions return a pointer to the destination buffer on success or NULL on failure. Not only does this kind of error handling look quite alien in the context of libvirt, where most functions return zero on success and a negative int on failure, but it's also somewhat pointless because unless there's been a failure the returned pointer will be the same one passed in by the user, thus offering no additional value. Change the functions so that they return an int instead. Signed-off-by: NAndrea Bolognani <abologna@redhat.com>

When adding a new object to the domain object list, there should have been 2 virObjectRef calls made one for each list into which the object was placed to match the 2 virObjectUnref calls that would occur during Remove as part of virHashRemoveEntry when virObjectFreeHashData is called when the element is removed from the hash table as set up in virDomainObjListNew. Some drivers (libxl, lxc, qemu, and vz) handled this inconsistency by calling virObjectRef upon successful return from virDomainObjListAdd in order to use virDomainObjEndAPI when done with the returned @vm. While others (bhyve, openvz, test, and vmware) handled this via only calling virObjectUnlock upon successful return from virDomainObjListAdd. This patch will "unify" the approach to use virDomainObjEndAPI for any @vm successfully returned from virDomainObjListAdd. Because list removal is so tightly coupled with list addition, this patch fixes the list removal algorithm to return the object as entered - "locked and reffed". This way, the callers can then decide how to uniformly handle add/remove success and failure. This removes the onus on the caller to "specially handle" the @vm during removal processing. The Add/Remove logic allows for some logic simplification such as in libxl where we can Remove the @vm directly rather than needing to set a @remove_dom boolean and removing after the libxlDomainObjEndJob completes as the @vm is locked/reffed. There is no "node driver" as there was before, drivers have to do their own ACL checking anyway, so they all specify their functions and nodeinfo is basically just extending conf/capablities. Hence moving the code to src/conf/ is the right way to go. Also that way we can de-duplicate some code that is in virsysfs and/or virhostcpu that got duplicated during the virhostcpu.c split. And Some cleanup is done throughout the changes, like adding the vir* prefix etc. Signed-off-by: NMartin Kletzander <mkletzan@redhat.com>

I'm tired of mistyping this all the time, so let's do it the same all the time (similar to how we changed all "Pci" to "PCI" awhile back). (NB: I've left alone some things in the esx and vbox drivers because I'm unable to compile them and they weren't obviously *not* a part of some API. I also didn't change a couple of variables named, e.g. "somethingIptables", because they were derived from the name of the "iptables" command)

Nearly all the methods in the nodeinfo file are given a 'const char *sysfs_prefix' parameter to override the default sysfs path (/sys/devices/system). Every single caller passes in NULL for this, except one use in the unit tests. Furthermore this parameter is totally Linux-specific, when the APIs are intended to be cross platform portable. This removes the sysfs_prefix parameter and instead gives a new method linuxNodeInfoSetSysFSSystemPath for use by the test suite. For two of the methods this hardcodes use of the constant SYSFS_SYSTEM_PATH, since the test suite does not need to override the path for thos methods. Signed-off-by: NDaniel P. There was a mess in the way how we store unlimited value for memory limits and how we handled values provided by user. Internally there were two possible ways how to store unlimited value: as 0 value or as VIR_DOMAIN_MEMORY_PARAM_UNLIMITED. Because we chose to store memory limits as unsigned long long, we cannot use -1 to represent unlimited. It's much easier for us to say that everything greater than VIR_DOMAIN_MEMORY_PARAM_UNLIMITED means unlimited and leave 0 as valid value despite that it makes no sense to set limit to 0. Remove unnecessary function virCompareLimitUlong. The update of test is to prevent the 0 to be miss-used as unlimited in future.
