Open-channel SSDs are devices that share responsibilities with the host in order to implement and maintain features that typical SSDs keep strictly in firmware. These include (i) the Flash Translation Layer (FTL), (ii) bad block management, and (iii) hardware units such as the flash controller, the interface controller, and large amounts of flash chips. In this way, Open-channels SSDs exposes direct access to their physical flash storage, while keeping a subset of the internal features of SSDs. LightNVM is a specification that gives support to Open-channel SSDs LightNVM allows the host to manage data placement, garbage collection, and parallelism. Device specific responsibilities such as bad block management, FTL extensions to support atomic IOs, or metadata persistence are still handled by the device. The implementation of LightNVM consists of two parts: core and (multiple) targets. The core implements functionality shared across targets. This is initialization, teardown and statistics. The targets implement the interface that exposes physical flash to user-space applications. Examples of such targets include key-value store, object-store, as well as traditional block devices, which can be application-specific. The Qlogic Everest Driver is the backend module for the QL4xxx ethernet products by Qlogic. This module serves two main purposes: 1. It's responsible to contain all the common code that will be shared between the various drivers that would be used with said line of products. Flows such as chip initialization and de-initialization fall under this category. 2. It would abstract the protocol-specific HW & FW components, allowing the protocol drivers to have a clean APIs which is detached in its slowpath configuration from the actual HSI. This adds a very basic module without any protocol-specific bits. I.e., this adds a basic implementation that almost entirely falls under the first category. Debugging input devices, specifically laptop touchpads, can be tricky without having the physical device handy. Here we try to remedy that with userio. This module allows an application to connect to a character device provided by the kernel, and emulate any serio device. In combination with userspace programs that can record PS/2 devices and replay them through the /dev/userio device, this allows developers to debug driver issues on the PS/2 level with devices simply by requesting a recording from the user experiencing the issue without having to have the physical hardware in front of them. This is an alternate driver for a number of Realtek WiFi USB devices, including RTL8723AU, RTL8188CU, RTL8188RU, RTL8191CU, and RTL8192CU. It was written from scratch utilizing the Linux mac80211 stack. After spending months cleaning up the vendor provided rtl8723au driver, which comes with it's own 802.11 stack included, I decided to rewrite this driver from the bottom up. Many thanks to Johannes Berg for 802.11 insights and help and Larry Finger for help with the vendor driver. The full git log for the development of this driver can be found here: git git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jes/linux.git branch rtl8723au-mac80211 This driver is still under development, but has proven to be very stable for me. It currently supports station mode only. It has support for OFDM and CCK rates. It does lack certain features found in the staging driver, such as power management, AMPDU, and 40MHz channel support. In addition it does not support AD-HOC, AP, and monitor mode support at this point. The driver is known to work with the following devices: Lenovo Yoga (rtl8723au) TP-Link TL-WN823N (rtl8192cu) Etekcity 6R (rtl8188cu) Daffodil LAN03 (rtl8188cu) Alfa AWUS036NHR (rtl8188ru) Signed-off-by: NJes Sorensen <Jes.Sorensen@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: NKalle Valo <kvalo@codeaurora.org>
