For testing purposes, support forcing the lmem_bar_size through a new modparam. Add support for the local memory PICe resizable bar, so that local memory can be resized to the maximum size supported by the device, and mapped correctly to the PCIe memory bar. It is usual that GPU devices expose only 256MB BARs primarily to be compatible with 32-bit systems. So, those devices cannot claim larger memory BAR windows size due to the system BIOS limitation. With this change, it would be possible to reprogram the windows of the bridge directly above the requesting device on the same BAR type. v2:Moved code to gt/intel_region_lmem.c and used only single underscore for function names.(Jani) v3: Optimised code. We've been introducing new registers with a mix of "XEHP_" (architecture) and "XEHPSDV_" (platform) prefixes. For consistency, let's settle on "XEHP_" as the preferred form. XEHPSDV_RP_STATE_CAP stays with its current name since that's truly a platform-specific register and not something that applies to the Xe_HP architecture as a whole. Let's replace the assortment of intel_gt_* and intel_uncore_* functions that operate on MCR registers with a cleaner set of interfaces: * intel_gt_mcr_read -- unicast read from specific instance * intel_gt_mcr_read_any[_fw] -- unicast read from any non-terminated instance * intel_gt_mcr_unicast_write -- unicast write to specific instance * intel_gt_mcr_multicast_write[_fw] -- multicast write to all instances We'll also replace the historic "slice" and "subslice" terminology with "group" and "instance" to match the documentation for more recent platforms; these days MCR steering applies to more types of replication than just slice/subslice. v2: - Reference the new kerneldoc from i915.rst. Handling of multicast/replicated registers is spread across intel_gt.c and intel_uncore.c today. As multicast handling and the related steering logic gets more complicated with the addition of new platforms and new rules it makes sense to centralize it all in one place. For now the existing functions have been moved to the new .c/.h as-is. Function renames and updates to operate in a more consistent manner will be done in subsequent patches. A portion of device memory is reserved for Flat CCS so usable device memory will be reduced by size of Flat CCS. Size of Flat CCS is specified in “XEHPSDV_FLAT_CCS_BASE_ADDR”. Several of our i915 header files, have been including i915_reg.h. This means that any change to i915_reg.h will trigger a full rebuild of pretty much every file of the driver, even those that don't have any kind of register access. Let's delete the i915_reg.h include from all headers and add an explicit include from the .c files that truly need the register definitions; those that need a definition of i915_reg_t for a function definition can get it from i915_reg_defs.h instead. We also remove two non-register #define's (VLV_DISPLAY_BASE and GEN12_SFC_DONE_MAX) into i915_reg_defs.h to allow us to drop the i915_reg.h include from a couple of headers. There's probably a lot more header dependency optimization possible, but the changes here roughly cut the number of files compiled after 'touch i915_reg.h' in half --- a good first step. GGTT is currently available both through i915->ggtt and gt->ggtt, and we eventually want to get rid of the i915->ggtt one. Use to_gt() for all i915->ggtt accesses to help with the future refactoring. During the probe of i915 the early intiialization of the gt (intel_gt_init_hw_early()) is moved prior to any access to the ggtt. This because it's in that moment we assign the ggtt to the gt and we want to do that before using it. There is an interesting refcounting loop: struct intel_memory_region has a struct ttm_resource_manager, ttm_resource_manager->move may hold a reference to i915_request, i915_request may hold a reference to intel_context, intel_context may hold a reference to drm_i915_gem_object, drm_i915_gem_object may hold a reference to intel_memory_region. Break this loop by dropping region reference counting. In addition, Have regions with a manager moving fence make sure that all region objects are released before freeing the region. v6: - Fix a code comment. Workarounds are documented in the bspec with an exclusive upper bound (i.e., a "fixed" stepping that no longer needs the workaround). This makes our driver's use of an inclusive upper bound for stepping ranges confusing; the differing notation between code and bspec makes it very easy for mistakes to creep in. Let's switch the upper bound of our IS_{GT,DISP}_STEP macros over to use an exclusive upper bound like the bspec does. This also has the benefit of helping make sure workarounds are properly handled for new minor steppings that show up (e.g., an A1 between the A0 and B0 we already knew about) --- if the new intermediate stepping pulls in hardware fixes early, there will be an update to the workaround definition which lets us know we need to change our code. If the new stepping does not pull a hardware fix earlier, then the new stepping will already be captured properly by the "[begin, fix)" range in the code. We'll probably need to be extra vigilant in code review of new workarounds for the near future to make sure developers notice the new semantics of workaround bounds. But we just migrated a bunch of our platforms from the IS_REVID bounds over to IS_{GT,DISP}_STEP, so people are already adjusting to the new macros and now is a good time to make this change too. Most logical place to introduce TTM buffer objects is as an i915 gem object backend. We need to add some ops to account for added functionality like delayed delete and LRU list manipulation. Initially we support only LMEM and SYSTEM memory, but SYSTEM (which in this case means evicted LMEM objects) is not visible to i915 GEM yet. The plan is to move the i915 gem system region over to the TTM system memory type in upcoming patches. We set up GPU bindings directly both from LMEM and from the system region, as there is no need to use the legacy TTM_TT memory type. We reserve that for future porting of GGTT bindings to TTM. Remove the old lmem backend. In preparation for Xe HP multi-tile architecture with multiple memory regions, we need to be able differentiate multiple instances of device local-memory. Note that the region name is just to give it a human friendly identifier, instead of using class/instance which also uniquely identifies the region. On DG1 A0/B0 steppings the first 1MB of local memory must be reserved. One reason for this is that the 0xA0000-0xB0000 range is not accessible by the display, probably since this region is redirected to another memory location for legacy VGA compatibility. Hook up the LMEM region. Addresses will start from zero, and for CPU access we get LMEM_BAR which is just a 1:1 mapping of said region. Give more flexibility to the caller, if they already have an allocated object, in case they wish to apply some transformation to the object prior to handing it over to the region specific initialisation step, like in gem_create_ext where we would like to first apply the extensions to the object. Start using device specific parameters instead of module parameters for most things. The module parameters become the immutable initial values for i915 parameters. The device specific parameters in i915->params start life as a copy of i915_modparams. Any later changes are only reflected in the debugfs. The stragglers are: * i915.force_probe and i915.modeset. Needed before dev_priv is available. This is fine because the parameters are read-only and never modified. * i915.verbose_state_checks. Passing dev_priv to I915_STATE_WARN and I915_STATE_WARN_ON would result in massive and ugly churn. This is handled by not exposing the parameter via debugfs, and leaving the parameter writable in sysfs. This may be fixed up in follow-up work. * i915.inject_probe_failure. Only makes sense in terms of the module, not the device.
