redundant copy_from_user in rds_sendmsg system call expose rds to issue where rds_rdma_extra_size walk the rds iovec and and calculate the number pf pages (sgs) it need to add to the tail of rds message and later rds_cmsg_rdma_args copy the rds iovec again and re calculate the same number and get different result causing WARN_ON in rds_message_alloc_sgs. fix this by doing the copy_from_user only once per rds_sendmsg system call. In rds_send_mprds_hash(), if the calculated hash value is non-zero and the MPRDS connections are not yet up, it will wait. But it should not wait if the send is non-blocking. In this case, it should just use the base c_path for sending the message. When a rds sock is bound, it is inserted into the bind_hash_table which is protected by RCU. But when releasing rds sock, after it is removed from this hash table, it is freed immediately without respecting RCU grace period. This could cause some use-after-free as reported by syzbot. Mark the rds sock with SOCK_RCU_FREE before inserting it into the bind_hash_table, so that it would be always freed after a RCU grace period. The other problem is in rds_find_bound(), the rds sock could be freed in between rhashtable_lookup_fast() and rds_sock_addref(), so we need to extend RCU read lock protection in rds_find_bound() to close this race condition. rds is the last in-kernel user of the old do_gettimeofday() function. Convert it over to ktime_get_real() to make it work more like the generic socket timestamps, and to let us kill off do_gettimeofday(). A follow-up patch will have to change the user space interface to deal better with 32-bit tasks, which may use an incompatible layout for 'struct timespec'. In IPv4, the newly introduced rdma_read_gids is used to read the SGID/DGID for the connection which returns GID correctly for RoCE transport as well. In IPv6, rdma_read_gids is also used. The following are why rdma_read_gids is introduced. rdma_addr_get_dgid() for RoCE for client side connections returns MAC address, instead of DGID. rdma_addr_get_sgid() for RoCE doesn't return correct SGID for IPv6 and when more than one IP address is assigned to the netdevice. So the transport agnostic rdma_read_gids() API is provided by rdma_cm module. Currently, rds_ib_conn_alloc() calls rds_ib_recv_alloc_caches() without passing along the gfp_t flag. But rds_ib_recv_alloc_caches() and rds_ib_recv_alloc_cache() should take a gfp_t parameter so that rds_ib_recv_alloc_cache() can call alloc_percpu_gfp() using the correct flag instead of calling alloc_percpu(). Since neither ib_post_send() nor ib_post_recv() modify the data structure their second argument points at, declare that argument const. This change makes it necessary to declare the 'bad_wr' argument const too and also to modify all ULPs that call ib_post_send(), ib_post_recv() or ib_post_srq_recv(). This patch does not change any functionality but makes it possible for the compiler to verify whether the ib_post_(send|recv|srq_recv) really do not modify the posted work request. To make this possible, only one cast had to be introduce that casts away constness, namely in rpcrdma_post_recvs(). The only way I can think of to avoid that cast is to introduce an additional loop in that function or to change the data type of bad_wr from struct ib_recv_wr ** into int (an index that refers to an element in the work request list). However, both approaches would require even more extensive changes than this patch. Registration of a memory region(MR) through FRMR/fastreg(unlike FMR) needs a connection/qp. With a proxy qp, this dependency on connection will be removed, but that needs more infrastructure patches, which is a work in progress. There are many data structures (RDS socket options) used by RDS apps which use a 32 bit integer to store IP address. To support IPv6, struct in6_addr needs to be used. To ensure backward compatibility, a new data structure is introduced for each of those data structures which use a 32 bit integer to represent an IP address. And new socket options are introduced to use those new structures. This means that existing apps should work without a problem with the new RDS module. For apps which want to use IPv6, those new data structures and socket options can be used. This patch enables RDS to use IPv6 addresses. For RDS/TCP, the listener is now an IPv6 endpoint which accepts both IPv4 and IPv6 connection requests. RDS/RDMA/IB uses a private data (struct rds_ib_connect_private) exchange between endpoints at RDS connection establishment time to support RDMA. This private data exchange uses a 32 bit integer to represent an IP address. This needs to be changed in order to support IPv6. A new private data struct rds6_ib_connect_private is introduced to handle this. To ensure backward compatibility, an IPv6 capable RDS stack uses another RDMA listener port (RDS_CM_PORT) to accept IPv6 connection. And it continues to use the original RDS_PORT for IPv4 RDS connections. This patch changes the internal representation of an IP address to use struct in6_addr. IPv4 address is stored as an IPv4 mapped address. All the functions which take an IP address as argument are also changed to use struct in6_addr. But RDS socket layer is not modified such that it still does not accept IPv6 address from an application. And RDS layer does not accept nor initiate IPv6 connections. v2: Fixed sparse warnings. The RDS core module creates rds_connections based on callbacks from rds_loop_transport when sending/receiving packets to local addresses. These connections will need to be cleaned up when they are created from a netns that is not init_net, and that netns is deleted. This patch replaces the ib_device_attr.max_sge with max_send_sge and max_recv_sge. It allows ulps to take advantage of devices that have very different send and recv sge depths. For example cxgb4 has a max_recv_sge of 4, yet a max_send_sge of 16. Splitting out these attributes allows much more efficient use of the SQ for cxgb4 with ulps that use the RDMA_RW API. Consider a large RDMA WRITE that has 16 scattergather entries. With max_sge of 4, the ulp would send 4 WRITE WRs, but with max_sge of 16, it can be done with 1 WRITE WR. Several subsystems depend on INFINIBAND_ADDR_TRANS, which in turn depends on INFINIBAND. However, when with CONFIG_INIFIBAND=m, this leads to a link error when another driver using it is built-in. rds_sendmsg() calls rds_send_mprds_hash() to find a c_path to use to send a message. Suppose the RDS connection is not yet up. In rds_send_mprds_hash(), it does if (conn->c_npaths == 0) wait_event_interruptible(conn->c_hs_waitq, (conn->c_npaths != 0)); If it is interrupted before the connection is set up, rds_send_mprds_hash() will return a non-zero hash value. Hence rds_sendmsg() will use a non-zero c_path to send the message. But if the RDS connection ends up to be non-MP capable, the message will be lost as only the zero c_path can be used.
