Commit 7d902c05 ("drm: Nuke drm_atomic_helper_connector_dpms") removed drm_atomic_helper_connector_dpms() helper saying that it was a dead code. It was however indirectly used by Exynos DRM driver for implementing suspend/resume support. To fix this regression (after that patch Exynos DRM suspend/resume functions became no-ops and hardware fails to suspend), this patch rewrites them with drm_atomic_helper_suspend/resume() helpers. Commit 48a92916 ("drm/exynos: use drm_for_each_connector_iter()") replaced unsafe drm_for_each_connector() with drm_for_each_connector_iter() and removed surrounding drm_modeset_lock calls. However, that lock was there not only to protect unsafe drm_for_each_connector(), but it was also required to be held by the dpms code which was called from the loop body. This patch replaces specific atomic commit function with atomic helper commit one. For this, it removes existing atomic commit function and relevant code specific to Exynos DRM and makes atomic helper commit to be used instead. Below are changes for the use of atomic helper commit: - add atomic_commit_tail callback specific to Exynos DRM . default implemention of atomic helper doesn't mesh well with runtime PM so the device driver which supports runtime PM should call drm_atomic_helper_commit_modeset_enables function prior to drm_atomic_helper_commit_planes function call. atomic_commit_tail callback implements this call ordering. - allow plane commit only in case that CRTC device is enabled. . for this, it calls atomic_helper_commit_planes function with DRM_PLANE_COMMIT_ACTIVE_ONLY flag in atomic_commit_tail callback. We don't want all planes to be added to the state whenever a plane with fixed zpos gets enabled/disabled. This is true especially for eg. cursor planes on i915, as we want cursor updates to go through w/o throttling. Same holds for drivers that don't support zpos at all (i915 actually falls into this category right now since we've not yet added zpos support). Allow drivers more freedom by letting them deal with zpos themselves instead of doing it in drm_atomic_helper_check_planes() unconditionally. Let's just inline the required calls into all the driver that currently depend on this. v2: Inline the stuff into the drivers instead of adding another helper, document things better (Daniel) Cc: Daniel Vetter <daniel@ffwll.ch> Cc: Marek Szyprowski <m.szyprowski@samsung.com> Cc: Benjamin Gaignard <benjamin.gaignard@linaro.org> Cc: Vincent Abriou <vincent.abriou@st.com> Cc: Laurent Pinchart <laurent.pinchart@ideasonboard.com> Cc: Inki Dae <inki.dae@samsung.com> Cc: Joonyoung Shim <jy0922.shim@samsung.com> Cc: Seung-Woo Kim <sw0312.kim@samsung.com> Cc: Kyungmin Park <kyungmin.park@samsung.com> Cc: Lyude <cpaul@redhat.com> Cc: Maarten Lankhorst <maarten.lankhorst@linux.intel.com> Cc: stable@vger.kernel.org Fixes: 44d1240d ("drm: add generic zpos property") Signed-off-by: NVille Syrjälä <ville.syrjala@linux.intel.com> Reviewed-by: NSean Paul <seanpaul@chromium.org> Acked-by: NBenjamin Gaignard <benjamin.gaignard@linaro.org> Signed-off-by: NDaniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch> Link: http://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/1476111056-12734-1-git-send-email-ville.syrjala@linux.intel.com

drm_atomic_state has a complicated single owner model that tracks the single reference from allocation through to destruction on another thread - or perhaps on a local error path. Drivers may set the NO_DISABLE_AFTER_MODESET flag in the 'flags' parameter of the helper drm_atomic_helper_commit_planes() if the relevant display controllers(e.g., IPUv3 for imx-drm) require to disable a CRTC's planes when the CRTC is disabled. The helper would skip the ->atomic_disable call for a plane if the CRTC of the old plane state needs a modesetting operation. Of course, the drivers need to disable the planes in their CRTC disable callbacks since no one else would do that. We already have a fallback in place to fill out the unique from dev->unique, which is set to something reasonable in drm_dev_alloc. Which means we only need to have a special set_busid for pci devices, to be able to care the backwards compat code for drm 1.1 around, which libdrm still needs. This was added in commit 0a3e67a4 Author: Jesse Barnes <jbarnes@virtuousgeek.org> Date: Tue Sep 30 12:14:26 2008 -0700 drm: Rework vblank-wait handling to allow interrupt reduction. to stay backwards-compatible with old UMS code that didn't even tell the kernel when it did a modeset, so that the kernel could save/restore vblank counters. At worst this means vblanks will be somewhat funky on a setup that very likely no one still runs. So let's just nuke it. Plan B would be to set it unconditionally in drm_vblank_init for kms drivers, instead of in each driver separately. So if this patch breaks anything please only restore the hunks in drmP.h and drm_irq.c, plus add a check for DRIVER_MODESET in drm_vblank_init. Stumbled over this in a discussion on irc with Chris. The commit d931589c ("drm/exynos: remove DRM_EXYNOS_GEM_MAP_OFFSET ioctl") removed it same with the ioctl that this patch adds. The reason that removed DRM_EXYNOS_GEM_MAP_OFFSET was we could use DRM_IOCTL_MODE_MAP_DUMB. Both did exactly same thing. Now we again will revive it as DRM_EXYNOS_GEM_MAP because of render node. DRM_IOCTL_MODE_MAP_DUMB isn't permitted in render node. Signed-off-by: NJoonyoung Shim <jy0922.shim@samsung.com> Signed-off-by: NInki Dae <inki.dae@samsung.com>

This patch changes device pointer provided to all calls to DMA-mapping subsystem from the virtual exynos-drm 'device' to the real device pointer of one of the CRTC devices (decon, fimd or mixer). This way no more hacks will be needed to configure proper DMA-mapping address space on the common virtual exynos-drm device. This change also removes the need for some hacks in IOMMU related code. It also finally solves the problem of Exynos DRM driver not working on ARM64 architecture, which provides noop-based DMA-mapping operations for virtual platform devices. This patch refactors driver and device registration by moving all drivers to the common array. This way additional flags can be added later for new features. #ifdef-based code has been replaced by IS_ENABLED() macro usage. The core takes care of this now. And since kfree(NULL) is ok we can simplify the function even further now. Note: There's another spin on this patch, but for different reasons, in-flight already: http://www.spinics.net/lists/dri-devel/msg97922.html Cc: Inki Dae <inki.dae@samsung.com> Acked-by: NDaniel Stone <daniels@collabora.com> Reviewed-by: NAlex Deucher <alexander.deucher@amd.com> Acked-by: NInki Dae <inki.dae@samsung.com> Signed-off-by: NDaniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@intel.com> Link: http://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/1453756616-28942-6-git-send-email-daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch

This patch fixes a kernel panic issue which happened when drm driver is closed while modetest. This issue could be reproduced easily by launching modetest with page flip repeatedly. The reason is that invalid drm_file object could be accessed by send_vblank_event function when finishing page flip if the drm_file object was removed by drm_release and there was a pended page flip event which was already committed to hardware. So this patch makes the pended page flip event to be cancelled by preclose callback which is called at front of drm_release function. Changelog v2: - free vblank event objects belonging to the request process, increment event space and decrease pending_update when cancelling the event Signed-off-by: NInki Dae <inki.dae@samsung.com> Reviewed-by: NDaniel Stone <daniels@collabora.com> Acked-by: NDaniel Vetter <daniel@ffwll.ch>

PM ops in exynos_drm_drv were split into two separate function as they were used also by drm device. Since PM ops have been removed from drm device, the functions can be merged together. Signed-off-by: NAndrzej Hajda <a.hajda@samsung.com> Signed-off-by: NInki Dae <inki.dae@samsung.com>

Just one special case (since i915 lost its ums code, yay): - radeon: Has slots for the old ums ioctls which don't have DRM_UNLOCKED, but all filled with drm_invalid_op. So ok to drop it everywhere. Every other kms driver just has DRM_UNLOCKED for all their ioctls, as they should. v2: admgpu happened, include that one too. And i915 lost its UMS support which means we can change all the i915 ioctls too. v3: Rebased on top of new vmwgfx DX interface extensions. v4: Rebase on top of render-node support in exynos. drm_vblank_count() returns the software counter. We should not pretend it's the hw counter since we use the hw counter to figuere out what the software counter value should be. So instead provide a new function drm_vblank_no_hw_counter() for drivers that don't have a real hw counter. The new function simply returns 0, which is about the only thing it can do.
