stable inclusion from stable-5.10.54 commit 7850f03ed8146ee25892c778aa66a6433a37e430 bugzilla: 175586 https://gitee.com/openeuler/kernel/issues/I4DVDU Reference: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git/commit/?id=7850f03ed8146ee25892c778aa66a6433a37e430 -------------------------------- [ Upstream commit e9a72f87 ] When registering the MDIO bus for a r8169 device, we use the PCI bus/device specifier as a (seemingly) unique device identifier. However the very same BDF number can be used on another PCI segment, which makes the driver fail probing: [ 27.544136] r8169 0002:07:00.0: enabling device (0000 -> 0003) [ 27.559734] sysfs: cannot create duplicate filename '/class/mdio_bus/r8169-700' .... [ 27.684858] libphy: mii_bus r8169-700 failed to register [ 27.695602] r8169: probe of 0002:07:00.0 failed with error -22 Add the segment number to the device name to make it more unique. This fixes operation on ARM N1SDP boards, with two boards connected together to form an SMP system, and all on-board devices showing up twice, just on different PCI segments. A similar issue would occur on large systems with many PCI slots and multiple RTL8169 NICs. RTL8125B has same or similar short packet hw padding bug as RTL8168evl. The main workaround has been extended accordingly, however we have to disable also hw checksumming for short packets on affected new chip versions. Instead of checking for an affected chip version let's simply disable hw checksumming for short packets in general. v2: - remove the version checks and disable short packet hw csum in general - reflect this in commit title and message Fixes: 0439297b ("r8169: add support for RTL8125B") Signed-off-by: NHeiner Kallweit <hkallweit1@gmail.com> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/7fbb35f0-e244-ef65-aa55-3872d7d38698@gmail.comSigned-off-by: NJakub Kicinski <kuba@kernel.org>

The caller of rtl8169_tso_csum_v2() frees the skb if false is returned. eth_skb_pad() internally frees the skb on error what would result in a double free. As reported by Serge flag IRQF_NO_THREAD causes an error if the interrupt is actually shared and the other driver(s) don't have this flag set. This situation can occur if a PCI(e) legacy interrupt is used in combination with forced threading. There's no good way to deal with this properly, therefore we have to remove flag IRQF_NO_THREAD. For several network drivers it was reported that using __napi_schedule_irqoff() is unsafe with forced threading. One way to fix this is switching back to __napi_schedule, but then we lose the benefit of the irqoff version in general. As stated by Eric it doesn't make sense to make the minimal hard irq handlers in drivers using NAPI a thread. Therefore ensure that the hard irq handler is never thread-ified. After making use of the gro_flush_timeout attribute I once got a tx timeout due to an interrupt that wasn't handled. Seems using irq_enabled can be racy, and it's not needed any longer anyway, so remove it. I've never seen a report about such a race before, therefore treat the change as an improvement. There's just one small drawback: If a legacy PCI interrupt is used, and if this interrupt is shared with a device with high interrupt rate, then we may handle interrupts even if NAPI disabled them, and we may see a certain performance decrease under high network load. We currently have two managed helpers for mdiobus - devm_mdiobus_alloc() and devm_mdiobus_register(). The idea behind devres is that the release callback releases whatever resource the devm function allocates. In the mdiobus case however there's no devres associated with the device by devm_mdiobus_register(). Instead the release callback for devm_mdiobus_alloc(): _devm_mdiobus_free() unregisters the device if it is marked as managed. This all seems wrong. The managed structure shouldn't need to know or care about whether it's managed or not - and this is the case now for struct mii_bus. The devres wrapper should be opaque to the managed resource. This changeset makes devm_mdiobus_alloc() and devm_mdiobus_register() conform to common devres standards: devm_mdiobus_alloc() allocates a devres structure and registers a callback that will call mdiobus_free(). __devm_mdiobus_register() allocated another devres and registers a callback that will unregister the bus. So far RTL8401 was treated like a RTL8101e, means we relied on the BIOS to configure MAC and PHY properly. Make RTL8401 a separate chip version and copy MAC / PHY config from r8101 vendor driver. Chip versions 13, 14, 15 are treated the same by the driver, therefore let's merge them. Signed-off-by: NHeiner Kallweit <hkallweit1@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: NDavid S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

Realtek added new members to the RTL8125 chip family, therefore rename RTL8125 to RTL8125a. Then we use the same chip naming as in the r8125 vendor driver. Signed-off-by: NHeiner Kallweit <hkallweit1@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: NDavid S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

Now that the critical sections are protected with RTNL lock, we don't need a separate mutex any longer. Signed-off-by: NHeiner Kallweit <hkallweit1@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: NDavid S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

Most relevant ops (open, close, ethtool ops) are protected with RTNL lock by net core. Make sure that such ops can't be interrupted by e.g. (runtime-)suspending by taking the RTNL lock in suspend ops and the PCI error handler. Because the netdevice is marked as detached now when parent is not accessible we can remove quite some checks. Signed-off-by: NHeiner Kallweit <hkallweit1@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: NDavid S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

Mark the netdevice as detached whenever we go into PCI D3hot. This allows to remove some checks e.g. from ethtool ops because dev_ethtool() checks for netif_device_present() in the beginning. In this context move waking up the queue out of rtl_reset_work() because in cases where netif_device_attach() is called afterwards the queue should be woken up by the latter function only. Typically the firmware takes care that tp->ocp_base is reset to its default value. That's not the case (at least) for RTL8117. As a result subsequent PHY access reads/writes the wrong page and the link is broken. Fix this be resetting tp->ocp_base explicitly. So far we can not configure irq coalescing when link is down. Allow the user to do this, and assume that he wants to configure irq coalescing for highest speed. Otherwise the irq rate is low enough anyway. Signed-off-by: NHeiner Kallweit <hkallweit1@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: NDavid S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
