lockdep complaints about a locking recursion for the i2c bus lock because both the sdvo ddc proxy bus and the gmbus nested within use the same locking class. It's not really a deadlock since we never nest the other way round, but it's annoying. Fix it by pulling the gmbus locking into the i2c lock_ops for both i2c_adapater and making sure that the ddc_proxy_xfer function is entirely lockless. Re-layouting the extracted function resulted in some whitespace cleanups, I figured we might as well keep them. v2: Review from Chris: - s/locked/unlocked/ since I got the naming backwards - Use the vfuncs of the proxied adatper instead of re-rolling copies. That's more consistent with the other proxying we're doing. HDMI 1.4b support the CEA video modes as per range of CEA-861-D (VIC 1-64). For any other mode, the VIC filed in AVI infoframes should be 0. HDMI 2.0 sinks, support video modes range as per CEA-861-F spec, which is extended to (VIC 1-107). This patch adds a bool input variable, which indicates if the connected sink is a HDMI 2.0 sink or not. This will make sure that we don't pass a HDMI 2.0 VIC to a HDMI 1.4 sink. This patch touches all drm drivers, who are callers of this function drm_hdmi_avi_infoframe_from_display_mode but to make sure there is no change in current behavior, is_hdmi2 is kept as false. In case of I915 driver, this patch: - checks if the connected display is HDMI 2.0. - HDMI infoframes carry one of this two type of information: - VIC for 4K modes for HDMI 1.4 sinks - S3D information for S3D modes As CEA-861-F has already defined VICs for 4K videomodes, this patch doesn't allow sending HDMI infoframes for HDMI 2.0 sinks, until the mode is 3D. SDVO was the last connector that's still using the legacy paths for properties, and this is with a reason! This connector implements a lot of properties dynamically, and some of them shared with the digital connector state, so sdvo_connector_state subclasses intel_digital_connector_state. set_property had a lot of validation, but this is handled in the drm core, so most of the validation can die off. The properties are written right before enabling the connector, since there is no good way to update the properties without crtc. This is mostly code churn, with exception of a few places: - intel_display.c has changes in intel_sanitize_encoder - intel_ddi.c has intel_ddi_fdi_disable calling intel_ddi_post_disable, and required a function change. Also affects intel_display.c - intel_dp_mst.c passes a NULL crtc_state and conn_state to intel_ddi_post_disable for shutting down the real encoder. If we would pass conn_state, then conn_state->connector != intel_dig_port->connector and conn_state->best_encoder != to_intel_encoder(intel_dig_port). We also shouldn't pass crtc_state, because in that case the disabling sequence may potentially be different depending on which crtc is disabled last. Nice way to introduce bugs. No other functional changes are done, diff stat is already huge. Each encoder type will need to be fixed to use the atomic states separately. Currently we check if the encoder's idea of dotclock agrees with what we calculated based on the FDI parameters. We do this in the encoder .get_config() hooks, which isn't so nice in case the BIOS (or some other outside party) made a mess of the state and we're just trying to take over. So as a prep step to being able sanitize such a bogus state, move the the sanity check to just after we've read out the entire state. If we then need to sanitize a bad state, it should be easier to move the sanity check to occur after sanitation instead of before it. Make I915_READ and I915_WRITE more type safe by wrapping the register offset in a struct. This should eliminate most of the fumbles we've had with misplaced parens. This only takes care of normal mmio registers. We could extend the idea to other register types and define each with its own struct. That way you wouldn't be able to accidentally pass the wrong thing to a specific register access function. The gpio_reg setup is probably the ugliest thing left. But I figure I'd just leave it for now, and wait for some divine inspiration to strike before making it nice. As for the generated code, it's actually a bit better sometimes. Eg. looking at i915_irq_handler(), we can see the following change: lea 0x70024(%rdx,%rax,1),%r9d mov $0x1,%edx - movslq %r9d,%r9 - mov %r9,%rsi - mov %r9,-0x58(%rbp) - callq *0xd8(%rbx) + mov %r9d,%esi + mov %r9d,-0x48(%rbp) callq *0xd8(%rbx) So previously gcc thought the register offset might be signed and decided to sign extend it, just in case. The rest appears to be mostly just minor shuffling of instructions. v2: i915_mmio_reg_{offset,equal,valid}() helpers added s/_REG/_MMIO/ in the register defines mo more switch statements left to worry about ring_emit stuff got sorted in a prep patch cmd parser, lrc context and w/a batch buildup also in prep patch vgpu stuff cleaned up and moved to a prep patch all other unrelated changes split out v3: Rebased due to BXT DSI/BLC, MOCS, etc. v4: Rebased due to churn, s/i915_mmio_reg_t/i915_reg_t/ Signed-off-by: NVille Syrjälä <ville.syrjala@linux.intel.com> Reviewed-by: NChris Wilson <chris@chris-wilson.co.uk> Link: http://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/1447853606-2751-1-git-send-email-ville.syrjala@linux.intel.com

Replace the is_sdvob bool and some sdvo_reg checks with enum port. This makes the SDVO code look more modern, and gets rid of explicit register offset checks in the code which will hamper register type checking. v2: Add assert_sdvo_port_valid() (Chris) Signed-off-by: NVille Syrjälä <ville.syrjala@linux.intel.com> Reviewed-by: NChris Wilson <chris@chris-wilson.co.uk> Link: http://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/1446838199-3666-1-git-send-email-ville.syrjala@linux.intel.com

Doing the IBX transcoder B workaround causes underruns on pipe/transcoder A. Just hide them by disabling underrun reporting for pipe A around the workaround. It might be possible to avoid the underruns by moving the workaround to be applied only when enabling pipe A. But I was too lazy to try it right now, and the current method has been proven to work, so didn't want to change it too hastily. Note that this can re-enable underrun reporting on pipe A if was already disabled due to a previous actual underrun. But that's OK, we may just get a second underrun report if another real underron occurrs on pipe A. v2: Note that pipe A underruns can get re-enabled due to this (Jani) Signed-off-by: NVille Syrjälä <ville.syrjala@linux.intel.com> Reviewed-by: Jesse Barnes <jbarnes@virtuousgeek.org> (v1) Link: http://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/1446225802-11180-1-git-send-email-ville.syrjala@linux.intel.com

This reverts commit 5d250b05. It results on a deadlock on platforms where we need to (at least partially) re-init hpd interrupts from power domain code, since ->hot_plug might again grab a power well reference (to do edid/dp_aux transactions. At least chv is affected. For all the encoders, call the hot_plug if it is registered. This is required for connected boot and resume cases to generate fake hpd resulting in reading of edid. Removing the initial sdvo hot_plug call too so that it will be called just once from this loop.
