Avoid confusion with the functions to be added for the new ICL or gen 11 DSI implementation by renaming the current DSI functions. While at it, permutate the words in the function names to make them all start with "vlv_dsi" or "vlv_dsi_pll" etc. Reduce the platform abstractions in the PLL file while at it, moving the checks to vlv_dsi.c instead, where we typically already have the necessary if ladders. Leave the static functions as-is for now; they could be renamed later if needed. No functional changes. v2: use "gen7" prefix. v3: use "vlv" and "bxt" prefixes, reduce the abstractions. The drm_panel_enable/disable and drm_panel_prepare/unprepare calls are not fine grained enough to abstract all the different steps we need to take (and VBT sequences we need to exec) properly. Instead of calling wait_for_dsi_fifo_empty on all dsi ports after calling a drm_panel_foo helper which calls VBT sequences, move it to the VBT mipi_exec_send_packet helper, which is the one VBT instruction which actually puts data in the fifo. This results in a nice cleanup making it clearer what all the steps on intel_dsi_enable / disable are and this also makes the VBT code properly wait till a command has actually been send before executing the next steps (typically a delay) in the VBT sequence. Currently the machine hangs during booting while accessing the BXT_MIPI_PORT_CTRL register during pipe HW state readout. After some experimentation I found that the hang is caused by the DSI PLL being disabled, or it being enabled but with an incorrect divider configuration. Enabling the PLL got rid of the boot problem, so fix this by checking the PLL enabled state/configuration before attempting to read out the HW state. The DSI_PLL_ENABLE register is in the always-on power well, while the BXT_DSI_PLL_CTL is in power well 0. This isn't exactly matched by the transcoder power domain, but what we really need is just a runtime PM reference, which is provided by any power domain. Ville also found this dependency specified in BSpec, so I added a reference to that too. v2: - Make sure we hold a power reference while accessing the PLL registers. v3: (Jani) - Simplify check in bxt_get_dsi_transcoder_state() - Add comment explaining why we check for valid dividers in bxt_dsi_pll_is_enabled() CC: Shashank Sharma <shashank.sharma@intel.com> CC: Uma Shankar <uma.shankar@intel.com> CC: Jani Nikula <jani.nikula@intel.com> Fixes: c6c794a2 ("drm/i915/bxt: Initialize MIPI DSI for BXT") Signed-off-by: NImre Deak <imre.deak@intel.com> Reviewed-by: NJani Nikula <jani.nikula@intel.com> Reviewed-by: NShashank Sharma <shashank.sharma@intel.com> Link: http://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/1458816100-31269-1-git-send-email-imre.deak@intel.com

A small step moving us closer to DRM MIPI DSI code. Use enum mipi_dsi_pixel_format instead of our own. The first benefit is being able to use common mipi_dsi_pixel_format_to_bpp(). There's a little back and forth conversion with the VBT -> enum -> register, since we have just shoved the VBT value into the register directly. We have serious dangling else bugs waiting to happen in our for_each_ style macros with ifs. Consider, for example, #define for_each_power_domain(domain, mask) \ for ((domain) = 0; (domain) < POWER_DOMAIN_NUM; (domain)++) \ if ((1 << (domain)) & (mask)) If this is used in context: if (condition) for_each_power_domain(domain, mask); else foo(); foo() will be called for each domain *not* in mask, if condition holds, and not at all if condition doesn't hold. Fix this by reversing the conditions in the macros, and adding an else branch for the "for each" block, so that other if/else blocks can't interfere. Provide a "for_each_if" helper macro to make it easier to get this right. v2: move for_each_if to drmP.h in a separate patch. Add basic support for using the drm mipi dsi framework for DSI. We don't use device tree which is pretty much required by mipi_dsi_host_register and friends, and we don't have the kind of device model the functions expect either. So we cheat and use it as a library to abstract what we need: a nice, clean interface for DSI transfers. This means we will have to be careful with what functions we call, as the driver model devices in mipi_dsi_host and mipi_dsi_device will *not* be initialized. MIPI DSI works on ports A and C, which map to pipes A and B, respectively. Things are going to get more complicated with the introduction of dual link DSI support, so clean up the register defines and code to match reality. Check in vlv_crtc_clock_get if DPLL is enabled before calling dpio read. It will not be enabled for DSI and avoid dpio read WARN dumps. Absence of ->get_config was causing other WARN dumps as well. Update dpll_hw_state as well correctly v2: Address review comments by Daniel - Check if DPLL is enabled rather than checking pipe output type - set adjusted_mode->flags to 0 in compute_config rather than using pipe_config->quirks - Add helper function in intel_dsi_pll.c and use that in intel_dsi.c - updated dpll_hw_state correctly - Updated commit message and title v3: Address review comments by Imre - Proper masking of P1, M1 fields while computing divisors - assert in case of bpp mismatch - guard for divide by 0 while computing pclk - Use ARRAY_SIZE instead of direct calculation Signed-off-by: NShobhit Kumar <shobhit.kumar@intel.com> Reviewed-by: NImre Deak <imre.deak@intel.com> Signed-off-by: NDaniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch>

This driver makes use of the generic panel information from the VBT. Panel information is classified into two - panel configuration and panel power sequence which is unique to each panel. The generic driver uses the panel configuration and sequence parsed from VBT block #52 and #53 v2: Address review comments by Jani - Move all of the things in driver c file from header - Make all functions static - Make use of video/mipi_display.c instead of redefining - Null checks during sequence execution v3: Address review comments by Damien - Rename the panel driver file as intel_dsi_panel_vbt.c - Fix style changes as suggested - Correct comments for lp->hs and hs->lp count calculations - General updating comments to have more clarity - using max() instead of ternary operator - Fix names (ui_num, ui_den) while using UI in calculations - compute max of lp_to_hs switch and hs_to_lp switch while computing hs_lp_switch_count Signed-off-by: NShobhit Kumar <shobhit.kumar@intel.com> Reviewed-by: NDamien Lespiau <damien.lespiau@intel.com> Signed-off-by: NDaniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch>

In VBT fields operation mode is 0 for Video mode and 1 for command mode. This field will be directly used as is in generic panel driver. So adjust accordingly.
