Cited patch in fixes tag initializes reporters_list and reporters_lock of a devlink port after devlink port is added to the list. Once port is added to the list, devlink_nl_cmd_health_reporter_get_dumpit() can access the uninitialized mutex and reporters list head. Fix it by initializing port reporters field before adding port to the list. Number of .dumpit functions try to ignore -EOPNOTSUPP errors. Recent change missed that, and started reporting all errors but -EMSGSIZE back from dumps. This leads to situation like this: $ devlink dev info devlink answers: Operation not supported Dump should not report an error just because the last device to be queried could not provide an answer. To fix this and avoid similar confusion make sure we clear err properly, and not leave it set to an error if we don't terminate the iteration. Cited commit mistakenly removed the trap group for externally routed packets (e.g., via the management interface) and grouped locally routed and externally routed packet traps under the same group, thereby subjecting them to the same policer. This can result in problems, for example, when FRR is restarted and suddenly all transient traffic is trapped to the CPU because of a default route through the management interface. Locally routed packets required to re-establish a BGP connection will never reach the CPU and the routing tables will not be re-populated. Fix this by using a different trap group for externally routed packets. Currently devlink instance is searched on all doit() operations. But it is optionally stored into user_ptr[0]. This requires rediscovering devlink again doing post_doit(). Few devlink commands related to port shared buffers needs 3 pointers (devlink, devlink_port, and devlink_sb) while executing doit commands. Though devlink pointer can be derived from the devlink_port during post_doit() operation when doit() callback has acquired devlink instance lock, relying on such scheme to access devlik pointer makes code very fragile. Hence, to avoid ambiguity in post_doit() and to avoid searching devlink instance again, simplify code by always storing devlink instance in user_ptr[0] and derive devlink_sb pointer in their respective callback routines. Devlink keeps its own reference to every reporter in a list and inits refcount to 1 upon reporter's creation. Existing destructor waits to free the memory indefinitely using msleep() until all references except devlink's own are put. Rework this mechanism by moving memory free routine to a separate function, which is called when the last reporter reference is put. Besides, it allows to call __devlink_health_reporter_destroy() while locked on a reporters list mutex in symmetry to __devlink_health_reporter_create(), which is required in follow-up patch. The action is used by control traps such as IGMP query. The packet is flooded by the device, but also trapped to the CPU in order for the software bridge to mark the receiving port as a multicast router port. Such packets are marked with 'skb->offload_fwd_mark = 1' in order to prevent the software bridge from flooding them again. Packets that hit exceptions during layer 3 forwarding must be trapped to the CPU for the control plane to function properly. Currently users have to choose a free snapshot id before calling DEVLINK_CMD_REGION_NEW. This is potentially racy and inconvenient. Make the DEVLINK_ATTR_REGION_SNAPSHOT_ID optional and try to allocate id automatically. Send a message back to the caller with the snapshot info. Example use: $ devlink region new netdevsim/netdevsim1/dummy netdevsim/netdevsim1/dummy: snapshot 1 $ id=$(devlink -j region new netdevsim/netdevsim1/dummy | \ jq '.[][][][]') $ devlink region dump netdevsim/netdevsim1/dummy snapshot $id [...] $ devlink region del netdevsim/netdevsim1/dummy snapshot $id v4: - inline the notification code v3: - send the notification only once snapshot creation completed. v2: - don't wrap the line containing extack; - add a few sentences to the docs. The previous patch allowed device drivers to publish their default binding between packet trap policers and packet trap groups. However, some users might not be content with this binding and would like to change it. In case user space passed a packet trap policer identifier when setting a packet trap group, invoke the appropriate device driver callback and pass the new policer identifier. v2: * Check for presence of 'DEVLINK_ATTR_TRAP_POLICER_ID' in devlink_trap_group_set() and bail if not present * Add extack error message in case trap group was partially modified Signed-off-by: NIdo Schimmel <idosch@mellanox.com> Reviewed-by: NJiri Pirko <jiri@mellanox.com> Acked-by: NJakub Kicinski <kuba@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: NDavid S. Packet trap groups are used to aggregate logically related packet traps. Currently, these groups allow user space to batch operations such as setting the trap action of all member traps. In order to prevent the CPU from being overwhelmed by too many trapped packets, it is desirable to bind a packet trap policer to these groups. For example, to limit all the packets that encountered an exception during routing to 10Kpps. Allow device drivers to bind default packet trap policers to packet trap groups when the latter are registered with devlink. The next patch will enable user space to change this default binding.
