Reset the mac_header pointer even when the tunnel transports only L3 data (in the ARPHRD_ETHER case, this is already done by eth_type_trans). This prevents other parts of the stack from mistakenly accessing the outer header after the packet has been decapsulated. In practice, this allows to push an Ethernet header to ipip6, ip6ip6, mplsip6 or ip6gre packets and redirect them to an Ethernet device: $ tc filter add dev ip6tnl0 ingress matchall \ action vlan push_eth dst_mac 00:00:5e:00:53:01 \ src_mac 00:00:5e:00:53:00 \ action mirred egress redirect dev eth0 Without this patch, push_eth refuses to add an ethernet header because the skb appears to already have a MAC header. Commit 6c11fbf9 ("ip6_tunnel: add MPLS transmit support") moved assiging inner_ipproto down from ipxip6_tnl_xmit() to its callee ip6_tnl_xmit(). The latter is also used by GRE. Since commit 38720352 ("gre: Use inner_proto to obtain inner header protocol") GRE had been depending on skb->inner_protocol during segmentation. It sets it in gre_build_header() and reads it in gre_gso_segment(). Changes to ip6_tnl_xmit() overwrite the protocol, resulting in GSO skbs getting dropped. Note that inner_protocol is a union with inner_ipproto, GRE uses the former while the change switched it to the latter (always setting it to just IPPROTO_GRE). Restore the original location of skb_set_inner_ipproto(), it is unclear why it was moved in the first place. There were a few remaining tunnel drivers that didn't receive the prior conversion to icmp{,v6}_ndo_send. Knowing now that this could lead to memory corrution (see ee576c47 ("net: icmp: pass zeroed opts from icmp{,v6}_ndo_send before sending") for details), there's even more imperative to have these all converted. So this commit goes through the remaining cases that I could find and does a boring translation to the ndo variety. The Fixes: line below is the merge that originally added icmp{,v6}_ ndo_send and converted the first batch of icmp{,v6}_send users. The rationale then for the change applies equally to this patch. It's just that these drivers were left out of the initial conversion because these network devices are hiding in net/ rather than in drivers/net/. ip6_tnl_encap assigns to proto transport protocol which encapsulates inner packet, but we must pass to set_inner_ipproto protocol of that inner packet. Calling set_inner_ipproto after ip6_tnl_encap might break gso. For example, in case of encapsulating ipv6 packet in fou6 packet, inner_ipproto would be set to IPPROTO_UDP instead of IPPROTO_IPV6. This would lead to incorrect calling sequence of gso functions: ipv6_gso_segment -> udp6_ufo_fragment -> skb_udp_tunnel_segment -> udp6_ufo_fragment instead of: ipv6_gso_segment -> udp6_ufo_fragment -> skb_udp_tunnel_segment -> ip6ip6_gso_segment Fixes: 6c11fbf9 ("ip6_tunnel: add MPLS transmit support") Signed-off-by: NAlexander Ovechkin <ovov@yandex-team.ru> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20201029171012.20904-1-ovov@yandex-team.ruSigned-off-by: NJakub Kicinski <kuba@kernel.org>

When receiving an IPv4 packet inside an IPv6 GRE packet, and the IP6_TNL_F_RCV_DSCP_COPY flag is set on the tunnel, the IPv4 header would get corrupted. Ipip uses skb->protocol to determine packet type, and bails out if it's not set. For AF_PACKET injection, we need to support its call chain of: packet_sendmsg -> packet_snd -> packet_parse_headers -> dev_parse_header_protocol -> parse_protocol Without a valid parse_protocol, this returns zero, and ipip rejects the skb. So, this wires up the ip_tunnel handler for layer 3 packets for that case. Signed-off-by: NJason A. Variables declared in a switch statement before any case statements cannot be automatically initialized with compiler instrumentation (as they are not part of any execution flow). With GCC's proposed automatic stack variable initialization feature, this triggers a warning (and they don't get initialized). Clang's automatic stack variable initialization (via CONFIG_INIT_STACK_ALL=y) doesn't throw a warning, but it also doesn't initialize such variables[1]. Note that these warnings (or silent skipping) happen before the dead-store elimination optimization phase, so even when the automatic initializations are later elided in favor of direct initializations, the warnings remain. To avoid these problems, move such variables into the "case" where they're used or lift them up into the main function body. net/ipv6/ip6_gre.c: In function ‘ip6gre_err’: net/ipv6/ip6_gre.c:440:32: warning: statement will never be executed [-Wswitch-unreachable] 440 | struct ipv6_tlv_tnl_enc_lim *tel; | ^~~ net/ipv6/ip6_tunnel.c: In function ‘ip6_tnl_err’: net/ipv6/ip6_tunnel.c:520:32: warning: statement will never be executed [-Wswitch-unreachable] 520 | struct ipv6_tlv_tnl_enc_lim *tel; | ^~~ [1] https://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44916Signed-off-by: NKees Cook <keescook@chromium.org> Signed-off-by: NDavid S. The device type for ip6 tunnels is set to ARPHRD_TUNNEL6. However, the ip4ip6_err function is expecting the device type of the tunnel to be ARPHRD_TUNNEL. Since the device types do not match, the function exits and the ICMP error packet is not sent to the originating host. Note that the device type for IPv4 tunnels is set to ARPHRD_TUNNEL. Fix is to expect a tunnel device type of ARPHRD_TUNNEL6 instead. Now the tunnel device type matches and the ICMP error packet is sent to the originating host. Minor changes: - convert dev_kfree_skb to kfree_skb on error path, as dev_kfree_skb calls consume_skb which is not for error paths. - use pskb_network_may_pull even though that is pedantic here, as the same as pskb_may_pull for devices without llheaders. - do not cache ipv6 hdrs if used only once (unsafe across pskb_may_pull, was more relevant to earlier patch) Reported-by: Nsyzbot <syzkaller@googlegroups.com> Signed-off-by: NWillem de Bruijn <willemb@google.com> Signed-off-by: NDavid S. Commit 058214a4 ("ip6_tun: Add infrastructure for doing encapsulation") added the ip6_tnl_encap() call in ip6_tnl_xmit(), before the call to ipv6_push_frag_opts() to append the IPv6 Tunnel Encapsulation Limit option (option 4, RFC 2473, par. 5.1) to the outer IPv6 header. As long as the option didn't actually end up in generated packets, this wasn't an issue. Then commit 89a23c8b ("ip6_tunnel: Fix missing tunnel encapsulation limit option") fixed sending of this option, and the resulting layout, e.g. for FoU, is: .-------------------.------------.----------.-------------------.----- - - | Outer IPv6 Header | UDP header | Option 4 | Inner IPv6 Header | Payload '-------------------'------------'----------'-------------------'----- - - Needless to say, FoU and GUE (at least) won't work over IPv6. The option is appended by default, and I couldn't find a way to disable it with the current iproute2. Turn this into a more reasonable: .-------------------.----------.------------.-------------------.----- - - | Outer IPv6 Header | Option 4 | UDP header | Inner IPv6 Header | Payload '-------------------'----------'------------'-------------------'----- - - With this, and with 84dad559 ("udp6: fix encap return code for resubmitting"), FoU and GUE work again over IPv6. When using an ip6tnl device in collect_md mode, the xmit methods ignore the ipv6.src field present in skb_tunnel_info's key, both for route calculation purposes (flowi6 construction) and for assigning the packet's final ipv6h->saddr. This makes it impossible specifying a desired ipv6 local address in the encapsulating header (for example, when using tc action tunnel_key). This is also not aligned with behavior of ipip (ipv4) in collect_md mode, where the key->u.ipv4.src gets used. Fix, by assigning fl6.saddr with given key->u.ipv6.src. In case ipv6.src is not specified, ip6_tnl_xmit uses existing saddr selection code. According to RFC791, 68 bytes is the minimum size of IPv4 datagram every device must be able to forward without further fragmentation while 576 bytes is the minimum size of IPv4 datagram every device has to be able to receive, so in ip6_tnl_xmit(), 68(IPV4_MIN_MTU) should be the right value for the ipv4 min mtu check in ip6_tnl_xmit. While at it, change to use max() instead of if statement. I don't know where this value comes from (probably a copy and paste and paste and paste ...). Let's use standard values which are a bit greater. ipv6_chk_addr_and_flags determines if an address is a local address and optionally if it is an address on a specific device. For example, it is called by ip6_route_info_create to determine if a given gateway address is a local address. The address check currently does not consider L3 domains and as a result does not allow a route to be added in one VRF if the nexthop points to an address in a second VRF. e.g., $ ip route add 2001:db8:1::/64 vrf r2 via 2001:db8:102::23 Error: Invalid gateway address. where 2001:db8:102::23 is an address on an interface in vrf r1. ipv6_chk_addr_and_flags needs to allow callers to always pass in a device with a separate argument to not limit the address to the specific device. The device is used used to determine the L3 domain of interest. To that end add an argument to skip the device check and update callers to always pass a device where possible and use the new argument to mean any address in the domain. Update a handful of users of ipv6_chk_addr with a NULL dev argument. This patch handles the change to these callers without adding the domain check. ip6_validate_gw needs to handle 2 cases - one where the device is given as part of the nexthop spec and the other where the device is resolved. There is at least 1 VRF case where deferring the check to only after the route lookup has resolved the device fails with an unintuitive error "RTNETLINK answers: No route to host" as opposed to the preferred "Error: Gateway can not be a local address." The 'no route to host' error is because of the fallback to a full lookup. The check is done twice to avoid this error. fallback tunnels (like tunl0, gre0, gretap0, erspan0, sit0, ip6tnl0, ip6gre0) are automatically created when the corresponding module is loaded. These tunnels are also automatically created when a new network namespace is created, at a great cost. In many cases, netns are used for isolation purposes, and these extra network devices are a waste of resources. We are using thousands of netns per host, and hit the netns creation/delete bottleneck a lot. (Many thanks to Kirill for recent work on this) Add a new sysctl so that we can opt-out from this automatic creation. Note that these tunnels are still created for the initial namespace, to be the least intrusive for typical setups. Tested: lpk43:~# cat add_del_unshare.sh for i in `seq 1 40` do (for j in `seq 1 100` ; do unshare -n /bin/true >/dev/null ; done) & done wait lpk43:~# echo 0 >/proc/sys/net/core/fb_tunnels_only_for_init_net lpk43:~# time ./add_del_unshare.sh real 0m37.521s user 0m0.886s sys 7m7.084s lpk43:~# echo 1 >/proc/sys/net/core/fb_tunnels_only_for_init_net lpk43:~# time ./add_del_unshare.sh real 0m4.761s user 0m0.851s sys 1m8.343s lpk43:~# Signed-off-by: NEric Dumazet <edumazet@google.com> Signed-off-by: NDavid S. IPv6 does path selection for multipath routes deep in the lookup functions. The next patch adds L4 hash option and needs the skb for the forward path. To get the skb to the relevant FIB lookup functions it needs to go through the fib rules layer, so add a lookup_data argument to the fib_lookup_arg struct.
