TIOCSSERIAL is a horrid, underspecified, legacy interface which for most serial devices is only useful for setting the close_delay and closing_wait parameters. The closing_wait parameter determines how long to wait for the transfer buffers to drain during close and the default timeout of 30 seconds may not be sufficient at low line speeds. In other cases, when for example flow is stopped, the default timeout may instead be too long. Add generic support for TIOCSSERIAL and TIOCGSERIAL with handling of the three common parameters close_delay, closing_wait and line for the benefit of all USB serial drivers while still allowing drivers to implement further functionality through the existing callbacks. This currently includes a few drivers that report their base baud clock rate even if that is really only of interest when setting custom divisors through the deprecated ASYNC_SPD_CUST interface; an interface which only the FTDI driver actually implements. Some drivers have also been reporting back a fake UART type, something which should no longer be needed and will be dropped by a follow-on patch. This patch prepares for qmi_wwan driver support for the device. Previously "option" driver mapped itself to interfaces 0 and 3 (matching ff/ff/ff), while interface 3 is in fact a QMI port. Interfaces 1 and 2 (matching ff/00/00) expose AT commands, and weren't supported previously at all. Without this patch, a possible conflict would exist if device ID was added to qmi_wwan driver for interface 3. Update and simplify device ID to match interfaces 0-2 directly, to expose QCDM (0), PCUI (1), and modem (2) ports and avoid conflict with QMI (3), and ADB (4). The modem is used inside ZTE MF283+ router and carriers identify it as such. Interface mapping is: 0: QCDM, 1: AT (PCUI), 2: AT (Modem), 3: QMI, 4: ADB T: Bus=02 Lev=02 Prnt=02 Port=05 Cnt=01 Dev#= 3 Spd=480 MxCh= 0 D: Ver= 2.01 Cls=00(>ifc ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS=64 #Cfgs= 1 P: Vendor=19d2 ProdID=1275 Rev=f0.00 S: Manufacturer=ZTE,Incorporated S: Product=ZTE Technologies MSM S: SerialNumber=P685M510ZTED0000CP&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&0 C:* #Ifs= 5 Cfg#= 1 Atr=a0 MxPwr=500mA I:* If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 2 Cls=ff(vend.) This is a partial revert of commit 2bb70f0a ("USB: serial: option: support dynamic Quectel USB compositions") The Quectel BG96 is different from most other modern Quectel modems, having serial functions with 3 endpoints using ff/ff/ff and ff/fe/ff class/subclass/protocol. Including it in the change to accommodate dynamic function mapping was incorrect. Revert to interface number matching for the BG96, assuming static layout of the RMNET function on interface 4. This restores support for the serial functions on interfaces 2 and 3. The USB composition, defining the set of exported functions, is dynamic in newer Quectel modems. Default functions can be disabled and alternative functions can be enabled instead. The alternatives includes class functions using interface pairs, which should be handled by the respective class drivers. Active interfaces are numbered consecutively, so static blacklisting based on interface numbers will fail when the composition changes. An example of such an error, where the option driver has bound to the CDC ECM data interface, preventing cdc_ether from handling this function: T: Bus=01 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=00 Cnt=01 Dev#= 2 Spd=480 MxCh= 0 D: Ver= 2.00 Cls=ef(misc ) Sub=02 Prot=01 MxPS=64 #Cfgs= 1 P: Vendor=2c7c ProdID=0125 Rev= 3.18 S: Manufacturer=Quectel S: Product=EC25-AF C:* #Ifs= 6 Cfg#= 1 Atr=a0 MxPwr=500mA A: FirstIf#= 4 IfCount= 2 Cls=02(comm.) RM500Q is a 5G module from Quectel, supporting both standalone and non-standalone modes. Unlike other recent Quectel modems, it is possible to identify the diagnostic interface (bInterfaceProtocol is unique). Thus, there is no need to check for the number of endpoints or reserve interfaces. The interface number is still dynamic though, so matching on interface number is not possible and two entries have to be added to the table. Output from usb-devices with all interfaces enabled (order is diag, nmea, at_port, modem, rmnet and adb): Bus 004 Device 007: ID 2c7c:0800 Quectel Wireless Solutions Co., Ltd.
