bnx2x_panic_dump() prints all kind of driver information, including slowpath information. Since VFs don't initialize slowpath information, a VF reaching this flow will likely cause a panic in the system as it will access NULL pointers. There are several places in IOV related flows where PF needs to determine whether a VF slowpath elements have already been configured (i.e., this affect its ability to configure/remove classifications for the VF). This patch changes the conditions for the validation and performs a cleaner validation (e.g., by replacing several validations with a single one). bnx2x driver uses incorrect PF identifier to configure (in HW) the VF interrupt scheme; As a result, in multi-function mode the configuration for PFs with a high index (4+) will overflow and the PF will erroneously configure a single ISR scheme for its VFs. As a result, if such a VF uses multiple queues, interrupt generation will stop after VF receives an Rx packet or sends a Tx packet on a queue other than queue[0]. When configuring GRE tunnel using OVS, tcp stream is distributed over all RSS queues which may cause TCP reordering. It happens since OVS uses L2GRE protocol when kernel gre uses IPGRE. Submission d9aee591 "bnx2x: Don't release PCI bars on shutdown" separated the PCI remove and shutdown flows, but pci_disable_device() is still being called on both. As a result, a dev_WARN_ONCE will be hit during shutdown for every bnx2x VF probed on a hypervisor (as its shutdown callback will be called and later pci_disable_sriov() will call its remove callback). This calls the pci_disable_device() only on the remove flow. Signed-off-by: NYuval Mintz <yuvalmin@broadcom.com> Signed-off-by: NAriel Elior <ariele@broadcom.com> Signed-off-by: NDavid S. When a VF originating from a given PF is flr-ed, that PF gets an interrupt from the chip management and takes a part in the flr process. The bnx2x driver in its pci shutdown() callback releases its pci bars (in the same manner it does during its pci remove() callback). During a system reboot while VFs are enabled, its possible for the VF's remove to be called (as a result of pci_disable_sriov()) after its shutdown callback has already finished running; This will cause a paging request fault as the VF tries to access the pci bar which it has previously released, crashing the system. This patch further differentiates the shutdown and remove callbacks, preventing the pci release procedures from being called during shutdown. Currently, the tx queue were selected implicitly in ndo_dfwd_start_xmit(). The will cause several issues: - NETIF_F_LLTX were removed for macvlan, so txq lock were done for macvlan instead of lower device which misses the necessary txq synchronization for lower device such as txq stopping or frozen required by dev watchdog or control path. - dev_hard_start_xmit() was called with NULL txq which bypasses the net device watchdog. - dev_hard_start_xmit() does not check txq everywhere which will lead a crash when tso is disabled for lower device. Fix this by explicitly introducing a new param for .ndo_select_queue() for just selecting queues in the case of l2 forwarding offload. netdev_pick_tx() was also extended to accept this parameter and dev_queue_xmit_accel() was used to do l2 forwarding transmission. With this fixes, NETIF_F_LLTX could be preserved for macvlan and there's no need to check txq against NULL in dev_hard_start_xmit(). Also there's no need to keep a dedicated ndo_dfwd_start_xmit() and we can just reuse the code of dev_queue_xmit() to do the transmission. In the future, it was also required for macvtap l2 forwarding support since it provides a necessary synchronization method. Starting with commit 80c33ddd "net: add might_sleep() call to napi_disable" bnx2x fails the might_sleep tests causing a stack trace to appear whenever the driver is unloaded, as local_bh_disable() is being called before napi_disable(). If the hypervisor configures a vlan for the VF via the PF, the expected result is that only packets tagged by said vlan will be received by the VF (and that vlan will be silently removed). Due to an incorrect manipulation of vlan filters in the driver, the VF can receive untagged traffic even if the hypervisor configured some vlan for it. This patch corrects the behaviour. There are 2 different (related) flows in the slowpath configuration that utilize the same pointer and cast it to different structs; This is obviously incorrect as the intended allocated memory is that of the smaller struct, possibly causing the flow utilizing the larger struct to corrupt other slowpath configuration. It's possible for VMs with older versions of bnx2x to run over a hypervisor with latest driver. If a VF in such a VM does not support RSS configuration, the PF driver in the hypervisor will print an error message to system logs. This changes the error message into a debug message, as this is very likely a false alarm for an older VF (i.e., VF manages to work properly; PF simply cannot configure the additional queues for it). There's a known issue that using `ethtool -e' flips the endianity of the written data, i.e., using `ethtool -E' to dump eeprom image and than using `ethtool -e' to re-write that same image will result in an image where the data has the opposite endianity. Sadly, this cannot be fixed as there are already various tools deployed based on the endianity of the eeprom read/write.
