Commit cc7cc02b ("PCI: Query platform firmware for device power state") augmented struct pci_platform_pm_ops with a ->get_state hook and implemented it for acpi_pci_platform_pm, the only pci_platform_pm_ops existing till v4.7. However v4.8 introduced another pci_platform_pm_ops for Intel Mobile Internet Devices with commit 5823d089 ("x86/platform/intel-mid: Add Power Management Unit driver"). It is missing the ->get_state hook, which is fatal since pci_set_platform_pm() enforces its presence. Andy Shevchenko reports that without the present commit, such a device "crashes without even a character printed out on serial console and reboots (since watchdog)". Retrofit mid_pci_platform_pm with the missing callback to fix the breakage. Commit: ca22312d ("x86/platform/intel-mid: Extend PWRMU to support Penwell") ... enabled the PWRMU driver on platforms based on Intel Penwell, but unfortunately this is not enough. Add Intel Penwell ID to pci-mid.c driver as well. To avoid confusion in the future add a comment to both drivers. On some firmwares we have to tell how exactly we want the command to be proceeded. The default case, based on the official BSP code, is to run it immediately. This appears to be a safer approach based on the documentation. Historically a lot of these existed because we did not have a distinction between what was modular code and what was providing support to modules via EXPORT_SYMBOL and friends. That changed when we forked out support for the latter into the export.h file. This means we should be able to reduce the usage of module.h in code that is obj-y Makefile or bool Kconfig. The advantage in doing so is that module.h itself sources about 15 other headers; adding significantly to what we feed cpp, and it can obscure what headers we are effectively using. Since module.h was the source for init.h (for __init) and for export.h (for EXPORT_SYMBOL) we consider each obj-y/bool instance for the presence of either and replace as needed. One module.h was converted to moduleparam.h since the file had multiple module_param() in it, and another file had an instance of MODULE_DEVICE_TABLE deleted, since that is a no-op when builtin. Finally, the 32 bit build coverage of olpc_ofw revealed a couple implicit includes, which were pretty self evident to fix based on what gcc was complaining about. Intel Penwell is one of the first SoCs in Intel MID series. It has slightly older version of PWRMU IP, though it is compatible with one found on Intel Tangier. Since we are not using (yet) any advanced stuff in the driver we may safely re-use what it's done for Intel Tangier for now. Extend PWRMU driver to support Intel Penwell by adding PCI ID and re-using existing ->set_initial_state() function. Add Power Management Unit driver to handle power states of South Complex devices on Intel Tangier. In the future it might be expanded to cover North Complex devices as well. With this driver the power state of the host controllers such as SPI, I2C, UART, eMMC, and DMA would be managed.
