If the NULL test is necessary, the initialization involving a dereference of the tested value should be moved after the NULL test. The sematic patch that fixes this problem is as follows: (http://coccinelle.lip6.fr/) // <smpl> @@ type T; expression E; identifier i,fld; statement S; @@ - T i = E->fld; + T i; ... when != E when != i if (E == NULL) S + i = E->fld; // </smpl> Signed-off-by: NJulia Lawall <Julia.Lawall@lip6.fr> Signed-off-by: NDavid S. chan->chan_num is 0..CPDMA_MAX_CHANNELS-1 for tx channels and CPDMA_MAX_CHANNELS..2*CPDMA_MAX_CHANNELS-1 for rx channels. However, the rx and tx teardown registers expect zero based channel numbering. Since the upper bits of the registers are reserved, the teardown also worked before, this patch is cleanup only. With recent changes to the driver(switch to new cpdma layer), the support for buffer descriptor address translation logic is broken. This affects platforms where the physical address of the descriptors as seen by the DMA engine is different from the physical address. In addition to being embedded into the EMAC controller, the CPDMA hardware block is used in TI's CPSW switch controller. Fortunately, the programming interface to this hardware block remains pretty nicely consistent across these devices. This patch adds a new CPDMA services layer, which can then be reused across EMAC and CPSW drivers.
