I just can't find any value in MODULE_ALIAS_MISCDEV(WATCHDOG_MINOR) and MODULE_ALIAS_MISCDEV(TEMP_MINOR) statements. Either the device is enumerated and the driver already has a module alias (e.g. PCI, USB etc.) that will get the right driver loaded automatically. Or the device is not enumerated and loading its driver will lead to more or less intrusive hardware poking. Such hardware poking should be limited to a bare minimum, so the user should really decide which drivers should be tried and in what order. Trying them all in arbitrary order can't do any good. On top of that, loading that many drivers at once bloats the kernel log. Also many drivers will stay loaded afterward, bloating the output of "lsmod" and wasting memory. Some modules (cs5535_mfgpt which gets loaded as a dependency) can't even be unloaded! If defining char-major-10-130 is needed then it should happen in user-space. .name, .match_table and .owner are duplicated in both of_platform_driver and device_driver. This patch is a removes the extra copies from struct of_platform_driver and converts all users to the device_driver members. This patch is a pretty mechanical change. The usage model doesn't change and if any drivers have been missed, or if anything has been fixed up incorrectly, then it will fail with a compile time error, and the fixup will be trivial. This patch looks big and scary because it touches so many files, but it should be pretty safe. GE Fanuc SBC610 Support for the FPGA based watchdog timer as found on GE Fanuc's SBC310, SBC610 and PPC9A Single Board Computers. This patch adds support for the watchdog timer found in one of the devices FPGAs. There are two identical watchdog timers at different offsets in the above mentioned boards, this driver is capable of supporting one of them. The watchdog timers are also capable of generating interrupts at a user-configurable threshold, though support for this operation is currently not supported by the driver.
