The nohz full code needs irq work to trigger its own interrupt so that the subsystem can work even when the tick is stopped. Lets introduce arch_irq_work_has_interrupt() that archs can override to tell about their support for this ability. We're going to be adding a few new barrier primitives, and in order to avoid endless duplication make more agressive use of asm-generic/barrier.h. Change the asm-generic/barrier.h such that it allows partial barrier definitions and fills out the rest with defaults. There are a few architectures (m32r, m68k) that could probably do away with their barrier.h file entirely but are kept for now due to their unconventional nop() implementation. Arnd in his review pointed out that arch Kconfig organisation has several deficiencies: * Build time entries for things which can be runtime extracted from DT (e.g. SDRAM size, core clk frequency..) * Not multi-platform-image-build friendly (choice .. endchoice constructs) * cpu variants support (750/770) is exclusive. The first 2 have been fixed in subsequent patches. Due to the nature of the 750 and 770, it is not possible to build for both together, w/o special runtime glue code which would hurt performance. In order to promote interoperability between userspace tracers and ftrace, add a trace_clock that reports raw TSC values which will then be recorded in the ring buffer. Userspace tracers that also record TSCs are then on exactly the same time base as the kernel and events can be unambiguously interlaced. Tested: Enabled a tracepoint and the "tsc" trace_clock and saw very large timestamp values. v2: Move arch-specific bits out of generic code. v3: Rename "x86-tsc", cleanups v7: Generic arch bits in Kbuild.
