These are now established subsystems, and we want drivers to be able to select PPS and PTP_1588_CLOCK without depending on EXPERIMENTAL. Further, the use of EXPERIMENTAL is now deprecated in general. This patch fixes the driver so that multicast PTP event messages can be recognized by the hardware time stamping unit. The station address register must be set according to the desired transport type. This patch adds an infrastructure for hardware clocks that implement IEEE 1588, the Precision Time Protocol (PTP). A class driver offers a registration method to particular hardware clock drivers. Each clock is presented as a standard POSIX clock. The ancillary clock features are exposed in two different ways, via the sysfs and by a character device.
