As the kernel provides access to module parameters through entries in /sys/module/<driver>/parameters/, there is no need for a private interface. Thus the existing code for setting the debug level is removed. The debugging macros contain a parameter COMP_XX that could be used as a mask; however, the code turns all these various bits on at the same time. This change implements them as a proper mask, and adds module parameters to set the mask at load time. The current name "debug" for the debug level has been changed to "debug_level" to better differentiate it from "debug_mask". The debug routines have also been changed to interrogate the structure that is loaded at entry time. As a result, the structure rtl_debug is no longer needed, and all references to it are deleted. This macro can be replaced with WARN_ONCE. In addition to using a standard debugging macro for these critical errors, we also get a stack dump. In rtl8821ae/hw.c, a senseless comment was removed, and an incorrect indentation was fixed. This patch also fixes two places in each of rtl8192ee, rtl8723be, and rtl8821ae where the logical condition was incorrect. In commit a5ffbe0a ("rtlwifi: Fix scheduling while atomic bug") and commit a269913c ("rtlwifi: Rework rtl_lps_leave() and rtl_lps_enter() to use work queue"), an error was introduced in the power-save routines due to the fact that leaving PS was delayed by the use of a work queue. This problem is fixed by detecting if the enter or leave routines are in interrupt mode. If so, the workqueue is used to place the request. If in normal mode, the enter or leave routines are called directly. Calling synchronize_irq() right before free_irq() is quite useless. On one hand the IRQ can easily fire again before free_irq() is entered, on the other hand free_irq() itself calls synchronize_irq() internally (in a race condition free way), before any state associated with the IRQ is freed. In commit 38506ece (rtlwifi: rtl_pci: Start modification for new drivers), a bug was introduced that causes a NULL pointer dereference. As this bug only affects the infrequently used RTL8192EE and only under low-memory conditions, it has taken a long time for the bug to show up. The bug was reported on the linux-wireless mailing list and also at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/ as bug #1527603 (kernel crashes due to rtl8192ee driver on ubuntu 15.10). Now that a new mac80211-based driver for Realtek devices has been submitted, it is time to reorganize the directories. rtl8192cu can't connect to AP after physical reconnect. according to dmesg, that problem's cause was DHCP timeout. rtl_is_special_data function checks packet type for adjusting rate. when that function is called from _rtl_rc_get_highest_rix, it can not calculate offset correctly. so i add argument is_encn in rtl_is_special_data. is_enc variable mean that iv header is added in skb parameter. i test only rtl8192cu chipset. because i doesn't have other rtlwifi chipsets. Transmission of an AP beacon does not call the TX interrupt service routine, which usually does the cleanup. Instead, cleanup is handled in a tasklet completion routine. Unfortunately, this routine has a serious bug in that it does not release the DMA mapping before it frees the skb, thus one IOMMU mapping is leaked for each beacon. The test system failed with no free IOMMU mapping slots approximately one hour after hostapd was used to start an AP. This issue was reported and tested at https://github.com/lwfinger/rtlwifi_new/issues/30. The hardware and firmware for the RTL8192EE utilize a FIFO list of descriptors. There were some problems with the initial implementation. The worst of these failed to detect that the FIFO was becoming full, which led to the device needing to be power cycled. As this condition is not relevant to most of the devices supported by rtlwifi, a callback routine was added to detect this situation. This patch implements the necessary changes in the pci handler, and the linkage into the appropriate rtl8192ee routine. These drivers use 9100-byte receive buffers, thus allocating an skb requires an O(3) memory allocation. Under heavy memory loads and fragmentation, such a request can fail. Previous versions of the driver have dropped the packet and reused the old buffer; however, the new version introduced a bug in that it released the old buffer before trying to allocate a new one. The previous method is implemented here. The skb is unmapped before any attempt is made to allocate another. Not only does this patch update the driver to match the latest Realtek release, it is an important step in getting the internal code source at Realtek to match the code in the kernel. The present build configuration for the rtlwifi family of drivers will fail under two known conditions: (1) If rtlwifi is selected without selecting any of the dependent drivers, there are errors in the build. (2) If the PCI drivers are built into the kernel and the USB drivers are modules, or vice versa, there are missing globals. The first condition is fixed by never building rtlwifi unless at least one of the device drivers is selected. The second failure is fixed by splitting the PCI and USB codes out of rtlwifi, and creating their own mini drivers. If the drivers that use them are modules, they will also be modules. Although a number of files are touched by this patch, only Makefile and Kconfig have undergone significant changes. The only modifications to the other files were to export entry points needed by the new rtl_pci and rtl_usb units, or to rename two variables that had names that were likely to cause namespace collisions. Commit a269913c entitled "rtlwifi: Rework rtl_lps_leave() and rtl_lps_enter() to use work queue" has two bugs for USB drivers. Firstly, the work queue in question was not initialized. Secondly, the callback routine used by this queue is contained within the file used for PCI devices. As a result, it is not available for architectures without PCI hardware.
