opregion-based platforms will send ACPI video event 0x80 for a range of notification types for legacy compatibility. This is interpreted as a display switch event, which may not be appropriate in the circumstances. When we receive such an event we should make sure that the platform is genuinely requesting a display switch before passing that event through to userspace. The opregion is a shared memory region between ACPI and the graphics driver. As the ACPI mapping has been changed to cachable in commit 6d5bbf00, mapping the intel opregion non-cachable now fails. As no bus-master hardware is involved in the opregion, cachable map should do no harm. Tested on a Fujitsu Lifebook P8010. There were two instances of code to control the panel backlight and neither handled the complete set of device variations. Fixes: Bug 29716 - [GM965] Regression: Backlight resets to minimum when changing resolution https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29716 And a bug on one of my PineView boxes which overflowed the backlight value. It is recommended that we use the Video BIOS tables that were copied into the OpRegion during POST when initialising the driver. This saves us from having to furtle around inside the ROM ourselves and possibly allows the vBIOS to adjust the tables prior to initialisation. On some systems, such as the Samsung N210, there is no accessible VBIOS and the only means of finding the VBT is through the OpRegion. v2: Rearrange the code so that ASLE is enabled along with ACPI v3: Enable OpRegion parsing even without ACPI Signed-off-by: NChris Wilson <chris@chris-wilson.co.uk> Cc: Matthew Garrett <mjg@redhat.com>

If i915 opregion is present, the acpi_video driver doesn't register itself immediately; it defers that until the i915 opregion code is done. But if that *fails*, the acpi_video driver was never getting registered. And thus I have no backlight support on my Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3. Call acpi_video_register() on the failure path, and it works again. we used to set the DIDL in the output device detected order. But some BIOSes requires it to be initialized in the ACPI device order. e.g. the value of the first field in DIDL stands for the first ACPI video output device in ACPI namespace. Now we initialize the DIDL using the device id, i.e. _ADR return value, of each ACPI video device, if it is not 0. https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15054Signed-off-by: NZhang Rui <rui.zhang@intel.com> Signed-off-by: NEric Anholt <eric@anholt.net>

Sometimes both acpi video and i915 driver are compiled as modules. And there exists the strict dependency between the two drivers. The acpi video bus will be unloaded in course of unloading the i915 driver. If we unload the acpi video driver, then the kernel oops will be triggered. Add the reference count to avoid unloading the ACPI video bus twice. The reference count should be checked before unregistering the acpi video bus. If the reference count is already zero, it won't unregister it again. And after the acpi video bus is already unregistered, the reference count will be set to zero. http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13396Signed-off-by: NZhao Yakui <yakui.zhao@intel.com> Acked-by: NZhang Rui <rui.zhang@intel.com> Signed-off-by: NLen Brown <len.brown@intel.com>

The pipestat fields affect reporting of all vblank-related interrupts, so we have to reset them during the irq_handler, and while enabling vblank interrupts. Otherwise, if a pipe status field had been set to non-zero before enabling reporting, we would never see an interrupt again. This patch adds i915_enable_pipestat and i915_disable_pipestat to abstract out the steps needed to change the reported interrupts.
