The following commit: 1b3d4200 ("PCI: Add pci_iomap_wc() variants") Introduced pci_iomap_wc() variants but broke the s390 build, because s390 requires its own implementation of pcio_iomap*() calls. The reason for that is that: "BAR spaces are not disjunctive on s390 so we need the bar parameter of pci_iomap to find the corresponding device and create the mapping cookie" so it has its own lookup/lock solution and it does not include asm-generic/pci_iomap.h. Since it currenty maps ioremap_wc() to ioremap_nocache() and that's the architecture default we can easily just map the wc calls to the default calls as well. Add ioremap_wt() to all arch-specific asm/io.h headers which define ioremap_wc() locally. These headers do not include <asm-generic/iomap.h>. Some of them include <asm-generic/io.h>, but ioremap_wt() is defined for consistency since they define all ioremap_xxx locally. In all architectures without Write-Through support, ioremap_wt() is defined indentical to ioremap_nocache(). frv and m68k already have ioremap_writethrough(). On those we add ioremap_wt() indetical to ioremap_writethrough() and defines ARCH_HAS_IOREMAP_WT in both architectures. The ioremap_wt() interface is exported to drivers. The xlate_dev_{kmem,mem}_ptr() functions take either a physical address or a kernel virtual address, so data types should be phys_addr_t and void *. They both return a kernel virtual address which is only ever used in calls to copy_{from,to}_user(), so make variables that store it void * rather than char * for consistency. Also only define a weak unxlate_dev_mem_ptr() function if architectures haven't overridden them in the asm/io.h header file. Signed-off-by: NThierry Reding <treding@nvidia.com>

virt_to_phys on s390 currently uses the LRA instruction to translate virtual to physical addresses. This creates an unnecessary overhead and caused trouble with dma debugging code (when called with an address pointing to a already unmapped page). Just get rid of s390's implementation and use the one from asm-generic/io.h . Note: with this change virt_to_phys will no longer work on vmalloc'ed addresses. On s390 the prefix page and absolute zero pages are not correctly returned when reading /dev/mem. The reason is that the s390 asm/io.h file includes the asm-generic/io.h file which then defines xlate_dev_mem_ptr() and therefore overwrites the s390 specific version that does the correct swap operation for prefix and absolute zero pages. The problem is a regression that was introduced with git commit cd248341 (s390/pci: base support). To fix the problem add "#ifndef xlate_dev_mem_ptr" in asm-generic/io.h and "#define xlate_dev_mem_ptr" in asm/io.h. This ensures that the s390 version is used. For completeness also add the "#ifndef" construct for xlate_dev_kmem_ptr(). Signed-off-by: NMichael Holzheu <holzheu@linux.vnet.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: NMartin Schwidefsky <schwidefsky@de.ibm.com>

Commit b4cbb197 ("vm: add vm_iomap_memory() helper function") added a helper function wrapper around io_remap_pfn_range(), and every other architecture defined it in <asm/pgtable.h>. The s390 choice of <asm/io.h> may make sense, but is not very convenient for this case, and gratuitous differences like that cause unexpected errors like this: mm/memory.c: In function 'vm_iomap_memory': mm/memory.c:2439:2: error: implicit declaration of function 'io_remap_pfn_range' [-Werror=implicit-function-declaration] Glory be the kbuild test robot who noticed this, bisected it, and reported it to the guilty parties (ie me). Remove the file name from the comment at top of many files. In most cases the file name was wrong anyway, so it's rather pointless. Also unify the IBM copyright statement. We did have a lot of sightly different statements and wanted to change them one after another whenever a file gets touched. However that never happened. Instead people start to take the old/"wrong" statements to use as a template for new files. So unify all of them in one go. Signed-off-by: NHeiko Carstens <heiko.carstens@de.ibm.com>

Currently dev/mem for s390 provides only real memory access. This means that the CPU prefix pages are swapped. The prefix swap for real memory works as follows: Each CPU owns a prefix register that points to a page aligned memory location "P". If this CPU accesses the address range [0,0x1fff], it is translated by the hardware to [P,P+0x1fff]. Accordingly if this CPU accesses the address range [P,P+0x1fff], it is translated by the hardware to [0,0x1fff]. Therefore, if [P,P+0x1fff] or [0,0x1fff] is read from the current /dev/mem device, the incorrectly swapped memory content is returned. With this patch the /dev/mem architecture code is modified to provide absolute memory access. This is done via the arch specific functions xlate_dev_mem_ptr() and unxlate_dev_mem_ptr(). For swapped pages on s390 the function xlate_dev_mem_ptr() now returns a new buffer with a copy of the requested absolute memory. In case the buffer was allocated, the unxlate_dev_mem_ptr() function frees it after /dev/mem code has called copy_to_user(). With the devres patch from Al and the dma-mapping patch from Heiko we can get rid of iomem and all associated definitions." So we'll just need to replace NO_IOPORT with NO_IOMEM in Kconfig and kill arch/s390/mm/ioremap.c. BTW, there's an annoying bit of junk in there - IO_SPACE_LIMIT. We only need it for /proc/ioports, which AFAICS shouldn't even be there on s390 (or uml). OTOH, removing that thing would mean a user-visible change - we go from "empty file in /proc" to "no such file in /proc"... Major cleanup of all s390 inline assemblies. They now have a common coding style. Quite a few have been shortened, mainly by using register asm variables. Use of the EX_TABLE macro helps as well. The atomic ops, bit ops and locking inlines new use the Q-constraint if a newer gcc is used. That results in slightly better code. Thanks to Christian Borntraeger for proof reading the changes. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
