The LNKGET based atomic sequence in __cmpxchg_u32 has slightly incorrect constraints for the return value which under certain circumstances can allow an address unit register to be used as the first operand of a CMP instruction. This isn't a valid instruction however as the encodings only allow a data unit to be specified. This would result in an assembler error like the following: Error: failed to assemble instruction: "CMP A0.2,D0Ar6" Fix by changing the constraint from "=&da" (assigned, early clobbered, data or address unit register) to "=&d" (data unit register only). The constraint for the second operand, "bd" (an op2 register where op1 is a data unit register and the instruction supports O2R) is already correct assuming the first operand is a data unit register. Other cases of CMP in inline asm have had their constraints checked, and appear to all be fine. Previously, all the __exit sections were just dropped by the link phase. However, if there are static_key (jump label) constructs in __exit sections that are not modules, the link fails with the message: `.exit.text' referenced in section `__jump_table' of xxx.o: defined in discarded section `.exit.text' of xxx.o Support this usage by keeping the .exit.text sections in the final image if JUMP_LABEL is defined, then discarding them once initialization is complete. The dma-mapping core and the implementations do not change the DMA attributes passed by pointer. Thus the pointer can point to const data. However the attributes do not have to be a bitfield. Instead unsigned long will do fine: 1. This is just simpler. Both in terms of reading the code and setting attributes. Instead of initializing local attributes on the stack and passing pointer to it to dma_set_attr(), just set the bits. 2. It brings safeness and checking for const correctness because the attributes are passed by value. The use of config_enabled() against config options is ambiguous. In practical terms, config_enabled() is equivalent to IS_BUILTIN(), but the author might have used it for the meaning of IS_ENABLED(). Using IS_ENABLED(), IS_BUILTIN(), IS_MODULE() etc. makes the intention clearer. This commit replaces config_enabled() with IS_ENABLED() where possible. This commit is only touching bool config options. I noticed two cases where config_enabled() is used against a tristate option: - config_enabled(CONFIG_HWMON) [ drivers/net/wireless/ath/ath10k/thermal.c ] - config_enabled(CONFIG_BACKLIGHT_CLASS_DEVICE) [ drivers/gpu/drm/gma500/opregion.c ] I did not touch them because they should be converted to IS_BUILTIN() in order to keep the logic, but I was not sure it was the authors' intention. We want to initialise register_process_table() before ppc_md is setup, so that it can be called as part of MMU init (at least on Radix ATM). That no longer works because probe_machine() requires that ppc_md be empty before it's called, and we now do probe_machine() much later. So make register_process_table a global for now. It will probably move into a mmu_radix_ops struct at some point in the future. This was broken by me when applying commit 7025776e "powerpc/mm: Move hash table ops to a separate structure" due to conflicts with other patches. This adds support for kcov to UML. There is a small problem where UML will randomly segfault during boot; this is because current_thread_info() occasionally returns an invalid (non-NULL) pointer and we try to dereference it in __sanitizer_cov_trace_pc(). Currently UML sets up physical memory very early, long before setup_arch() was called by the kernel main function. This can cause problems when code paths in UML's memory setup code assume that the kernel is already running. i.e. when kmemleak is enabled it will evaluate current() in free_bootmem(). That early current() is undefined and UML explodes. Solve the problem by setting up physical memory in setup_arch(), at this stage the kernel has materialized and basic infrastructure such as current() works. When CONFIG_RANDOMIZE_MEMORY is set on x86-64, __PAGE_OFFSET becomes a variable and using it as a symbol in the image memory restoration assembly code under core_restore_code is not correct any more. To avoid that problem, modify set_up_temporary_mappings() to compute the physical address of the temporary page tables and store it in temp_level4_pgt, so that the value of that variable is ready to be written into CR3. Then, the assembly code doesn't have to worry about converting that value into a physical address and things work regardless of whether or not CONFIG_RANDOMIZE_MEMORY is set. In general, there's no need for the "restore sigmask" flag to live in ti->flags. alpha, ia64, microblaze, powerpc, sh, sparc (64-bit only), tile, and x86 use essentially identical alternative implementations, placing the flag in ti->status. Replace those optimized implementations with an equally good common implementation that stores it in a bitfield in struct task_struct and drop the custom implementations. Additional architectures can opt in by removing their TIF_RESTORE_SIGMASK defines. There was only one use of __initdata_refok and __exit_refok __init_refok was used 46 times against 82 for __ref. Those definitions are obsolete since commit 312b1485 ("Introduce new section reference annotations tags: __ref, __refdata, __refconst") This patch removes the following compatibility definitions and replaces them treewide. /* compatibility defines */ #define __init_refok __ref #define __initdata_refok __refdata #define __exit_refok __ref I can also provide separate patches if necessary. PA-RISC is interesting; integer multiplies are implemented in the FPU, so are painful in the kernel. But it tries to be friendly to shift-and-add sequences for constant multiplies. __hash_32 is implemented using the same shift-and-add sequence as Microblaze, just scheduled for the PA7100. (It's 2-way superscalar but in-order, like the Pentium.) hash_64 was tricky, but a suggestion from Jason Thong allowed a good solution by breaking up the multiplier. After a lot of manual optimization, I found a 19-instruction sequence for the multiply that can be executed in 10 cycles using only 4 temporaries. (The PA8xxx can issue 4 instructions per cycle, but 2 must be ALU ops and 2 must be loads/stores. And the final add can't be paired.) An alternative considered, but ultimately not used, was Thomas Wang's 64-to-32-bit integer hash. At 12 instructions, it's smaller, but they're all sequentially dependent, so it has longer latency. https://web.archive.org/web/2011/http://www.concentric.net/~Ttwang/tech/inthash.htm http://burtleburtle.net/bob/hash/integer.htmlSigned-off-by: NGeorge Spelvin <linux@sciencehorizons.net> Cc: Helge Deller <deller@gmx.de> Cc: linux-parisc@vger.kernel.org Signed-off-by: NHelge Deller <deller@gmx.de>

KVM sometimes flushes host TLB entries, reading each one to check if it corresponds to a guest KSeg0 address. In the absence of EntryHi.EHInv bits to invalidate the whole entry, the entries will be set to unique virtual addresses in KSeg0 (which is not TLB mapped), spaced 2*PAGE_SIZE apart. The TLB read however will clobber the CP0_PageMask register with whatever page size that TLB entry had, and that same page size will be written back into the TLB entry along with the unique address. This would cause breakage when transparent huge pages are enabled on 64-bit host kernels, since huge page entries will overlap other nearby entries when separated by only 2*PAGE_SIZE, causing a machine check exception. Fix this by restoring the old CP0_PageMask value (which should be set to the normal page size) after reading the TLB entry if we're going to go ahead and invalidate it. kvm_mips_trans_replace() passes a pointer to KVM_GUEST_KSEGX(). This breaks on 64-bit builds due to the cast of that 64-bit pointer to a different sized 32-bit int.
