Define HAVE_EXIT_THREAD for archs which want to do something in exit_thread. For others, let's define exit_thread as an empty inline. This is a cleanup before we change the prototype of exit_thread to accept a task parameter. [akpm@linux-foundation.org: fix mips] Signed-off-by: NJiri Slaby <jslaby@suse.cz> Cc: "David S. Commit 41101809 ("fork: Provide weak arch_release_[task_struct| thread_info] functions") in -tip highlights a problem in the frv arch, where it has needles prototypes for alloc_task_struct_node and free_task_struct. This now shows up as: kernel/fork.c:120:66: error: static declaration of 'alloc_task_struct_node' follows non-static declaration kernel/fork.c:127:51: error: static declaration of 'free_task_struct' follows non-static declaration since that commit turned them into real functions. Since arch/frv does does not define define __HAVE_ARCH_TASK_STRUCT_ALLOCATOR (i.e. it just uses the generic ones) it shouldn't list these at all. Hardware with MCA bus is limited to 386 and 486 class machines that are now 20+ years old and typically with less than 32MB of memory. A quick search on the internet, and you see that even the MCA hobbyist/enthusiast community has lost interest in the early 2000 era and never really even moved ahead from the 2.4 kernels to the 2.6 series. This deletes anything remaining related to CONFIG_MCA from core kernel code and from the x86 architecture. There is no point in carrying this any further into the future. One complication to watch for is inadvertently scooping up stuff relating to machine check, since there is overlap in the TLA name space (e.g. arch/x86/boot/mca.c). Historical prepare_to_copy() is mostly a no-op, duplicated for majority of the architectures and the rest following the x86 model of flushing the extended register state like fpu there. Remove it and use the arch_dup_task_struct() instead. All kthreads being created from a single helper task, they all use memory from a single node for their kernel stack and task struct. This patch suite creates kthread_create_on_cpu(), adding a 'cpu' parameter to parameters already used by kthread_create(). This parameter serves in allocating memory for the new kthread on its memory node if available. Users of this new function are : ksoftirqd, kworker, migration, pktgend... This patch: Add a node parameter to alloc_task_struct(), and change its name to alloc_task_struct_node() This change is needed to allow NUMA aware kthread_create_on_cpu() Signed-off-by: NEric Dumazet <eric.dumazet@gmail.com> Acked-by: NDavid S. During the recent discussion of taking 'volatile' off of the spinlock, I noticed that while most arches #define cpu_relax() such that it implies barrier(), some arches define cpu_relax() to be empty. This patch changes the definition of cpu_relax() for frv, h8300, m68knommu, sh, sh64, v850 and xtensa from an empty while(0) to the compiler barrier(). Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
