      mfd: arizona: Update several pdata members to unsigned · 00b6e9ff
      Charles Keepax 提交于
      Device tree and ACPI primarily deal with unsigned ints, many of the
      pdata members in the Arizona driver are signed ints but are only ever
      assigned positive values. Changing these pdata fields to unsigned ints
      avoids us having to choose between overly verbose code and Sparse
      warnings.

      mfd: watchdog: iTCO_wdt: Expose watchdog properties using platform data · 420b54de
      Matt Fleming 提交于
      Intel Sunrisepoint (Skylake PCH) has the iTCO watchdog accessible across
      the SMBus, unlike previous generations of PCH/ICH where it was on the
      LPC bus. Because it's on the SMBus, it doesn't make sense to pass around
      a 'struct lpc_ich_info', and leaking the type of bus into the iTCO
      watchdog driver is kind of backwards anyway.

      This change introduces a new 'struct itco_wdt_platform_data' for use
      inside the iTCO watchdog driver and by the upcoming Intel Sunrisepoint
      code, which neatly avoids having to include lpc_ich headers in the i801
      i2c driver.

      This change is overdue because lpc_ich_info has already found its way
      into other TCO watchdog users, notably the intel_pmc_ipc driver where
      the watchdog actually isn't on the LPC bus as far as I can see.

      A simple translation layer is provided for converting from the existing
      'struct lpc_ich_info' inside the lpc_ich mfd driver.

      mfd: axp20x: Add AXP22x PMIC support · f05be589
      Boris BREZILLON 提交于
      Add support for the AXP22x PMIC devices to the existing AXP20x driver.
      This includes the AXP221 and AXP223, which are identical except for
      the external data bus. Only AXP221 is added for now. AXP223 will be
      added after it's Reduced Serial Bus (RSB) interface is supported.

      AXP22x defines a new set of registers, power supplies and regulators,
      but most of the API is similar to the AXP20x ones.

      A new irq chip definition is used, even though the available interrupts
      on AXP22x is a subset of those on AXP20x. This is done so the interrupt
      numbers match those on the datasheet.

      This patch only enables the interrupts, system power-off function, and PEK
      sub-device. The regulator driver must first support different variants
      before we enable it from the mfd driver.

      power_supply: Change ownership from driver to core · 297d716f
      Krzysztof Kozlowski 提交于
      Change the ownership of power_supply structure from each driver
      implementing the class to the power supply core.

      The patch changes power_supply_register() function thus all drivers
      implementing power supply class are adjusted.

      Each driver provides the implementation of power supply. However it
      should not be the owner of power supply class instance because it is
      exposed by core to other subsystems with power_supply_get_by_name().
      These other subsystems have no knowledge when the driver will unregister
      the power supply. This leads to several issues when driver is unbound -
      mostly because user of power supply accesses freed memory.

      Instead let the core own the instance of struct 'power_supply'. Other
      users of this power supply will still access valid memory because it
      will be freed when device reference count reaches 0. Currently this
      means "it will leak" but power_supply_put() call in next patches will
      solve it.

      This solves invalid memory references in following race condition
      scenario:

      Thread 1: charger manager
      Thread 2: power supply driver, used by charger manager

      THREAD 1 (charger manager) THREAD 2 (power supply driver)
      ==========================         ==============================
      psy = power_supply_get_by_name()
                                         Driver unbind, .remove
                                           power_supply_unregister()
                                           Device fully removed
      psy->get_property()

      The 'get_property' call is executed in invalid context because the driver was
      unbound and struct 'power_supply' memory was freed.

      This could be observed easily with charger manager driver (here compiled
      with max17040 fuel gauge):

      $ cat /sys/devices/virtual/power_supply/cm-battery/capacity &
      $ echo "1-0036" > /sys/bus/i2c/drivers/max17040/unbind
